Study.com or Coopersmith for UL Psychology Classes

Been looking for upper division courses with least amount of essays.

On study.com most upper division ones have essays, including computer courses Sad

It's study and then test for this specific coopersmith course. yes it's UL. (this is similar in style to some DSST exams. study on own, and test)  coopersmith's sports/exercise psychology also did not have essays. coopersmith's sociology of Jewish food has "short essay" style on the exam, but those are not intended to be long answer with your 5 paragraphs with works cited either. More of a solid paragraph answer. I got too nervous about that with timed testing and decided I didn't want to take that course. That's all I know with them, except I appreciated their customer service.
Some of SDC (study.com) courses will have only 1 essay that is not terribly long for word requirement. Depending on what you are majoring in... take a look at SDC Eng 305, Psy 301 (industrial psychology), Sociology of Work has 2 essays, but they are shorter word count. It might take a little bit of time to look through the sdc transfer guide for UL for the college you intend to transfer and check out the assignment requirement. But be encouraged if essays are tough for you. The essays are not done during exam.  I was able to see the assignments without being logged in and could work on them before starting the class and refine it when I started the course. It wasn't all that bad.  Not all UL SDC courses have 2000-3000 words and require 3 for the course. Some are much shorter just like it would be in different college courses. And some are project/presentation with slides or a quick video.

Correct. There are no papers to write.

The exams tend to be mostly multiple choice with a modest number (anywhere from zero to eight, most often four to six) of "short answer" questions, for which they're looking for something like two to three sentences.

From my experience, it's clear that they are simply looking for key words. My answers were always short and sweet, and so far as I can tell, I was never dinged for low word count. If you dislike writing and you need UL Psych credits, you can't go wrong with Coopersmith.

Correct, these Coopersmith courses don't require research papers/essay's.  However, their format is horrible.  788 pages of outdated power point slides with nothing but boring text and without practice tests to gauge readiness.  Additionally you pay for proctoring and you must make an appointment for the exam.  When I'm done testing tomorrow, I'll let you know how difficult it is, as I have no idea what to study for.  So far I prefer Study.com.  Their presentation of material and practice tests are much friendlier, educational and zero test surprises.

Just study exactly what is on the crash course PowerPoint slides and focus on memorizing the information on the crash course slide decks. As far as proctoring is concerned that is a ProctorU issue not a Coopersmith issue, ProctorU does allow you to log in and "take exam now" but it is at a higher cost. There will be ZERO test surprises as long as you simply study the material on the crash course PowerPoint. The majority of people who choose this option are looking for the information and the credits rather than the flash and bang type stuff from other providers so a PowerPoint with just text fits the requirements.

In order to receive credit via Coopersmith, a student must use ProctorU, so it IS a Coopersmith issue.  Thank you for the study tips.  I'm happy you're satisfied utilizing Coopersmith.  It's all a personal preference.  In my current course, Psy 310 Foundations of Stress Management, one of the ways they say to save money is to stop using 411!  LOL!  Best of luck to you in your studies.

Hope you do as well as I did on the exam for Stress Management.

I know I was nervous with my first exam with them too (Stress Mgt was second one. sports was first). I was nervous from stories on this forum that proctorU was hard to deal with. I did not experience any of that. I didn't have to do a questionnaire to confirm my ID. I just showed the ID card and it was good. I may be very different from others in that having a set test date was nice. It was like that with my CLEP exams. I couldn't just show up. The appointment helped me have a time frame for studying and prep work. I was nervous about it too. I mean compared with study.com test now and no extra charge, and practice exams, etc.... I was unsure how it would go. Both were easy to deal with and have differences. And yes, it's all about individual preferences. I also liked how SDC had it with take exam whenever (except that meant a week of waiting that proctoring was accepted.)

oh, in case it wasn't clear, with coopersmith and proctorU stuff... You will know right away that your proctoring session was accepted. But you won't know your test grade for a few days when it shows up in coopersmith account. This is opposite with SDC where you know your score right away but don't get confirmation that proctoring went fine for up to a week or so (or at least all three SDC exams I took it was 7-9 days wait).

looking forward to hearing how you do on the test. I didn't know my grade right away, but I knew I had done very well on the exam when I took it.

Ok, I was totally suffering from fear of unknown in earlier comments. Just completed the test and that was the EASIEST exam I've taken so far! If the rest of the psy courses are similar format, I'm finishing up with Coopersmith. Only dislike is ProctorU. I selected "take test now" for $30.

ProctorU is free if scheduled far enough in advance.

If you didn't pay a fee to ProctorFU, I'm happy for you, but that does not mean it was free.  It means the cost was subsidized by your school.
