Purdue Global: Free Courses for Covid-Impacted Workers
#1
Purdue University Global is offering free and discounted classes for those impacted by Covid-19.  The site reads "Whether you have been furloughed, laid off, or are preparing for your future during an uncertain time, free online courses from Purdue University Global give you an opportunity to focus on expanding your professional skills."

https://online.purdue.edu/opportunity/fr...ge-courses

That language seems to give a lot of wiggle room.

I just signed up to get a call tomorrow (ok, I provided my info, but I'm pretty sure they will be calling).

My kid will not be able to work this summer because public pools will probably be closed (lifeguard), so he would LOVE to take Cybersecurity. It would be awesome.

I'll report back when I know something.

" Enroll in an eligible Purdue Global single traditional course or its corresponding module courses between March 30, 2020, and
June 3, 2020, and start the course by June 10, 2020."

So not very long. I already signed up for more information so hopefully they can expedite this and make it work.

On receiving credit:

Something to look into if you're aiming for course credit.

Anyone got in more info?

1. For the 5 (quarter) credit ones. Can you do more than one course?
2. What is the length of these courses or are they self-paced?

Yep, they called.  Unfortunately, they won't accept dual enrolled students, so I decided not to probe any further (I was doing something else).

That's too bad. I guess the thinking is that if you're currently enrolled then you must not be too affected by the pandemic.
