TESU AA question
#1
My son is hoping to get an AA at TESU and only needs 9 more credits (he's almost done with public speaking on Sophia) so really 6. The evaluation just came through on Friday and we couldn't get with advising and only have until midnight to register. Is there an expert that can tell me since he's transferred in everything else if he has to take these last 2 classes at TESU for residency requirement? If he takes both it would be $3054 so if we can save $ and he can do ethical leadership on Sophia that would be great.....help please!

Here's what the evaluation says exactly:
Information Literacy 3SH (INSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENT) (Not started)
To meet this requirement, students MUST take SOS-110 Critical Information Literacy at Thomas Edison State University
Does that mean this is the only class that has to be taken at TESU??

Ethical Leadership 3SH (Not started)
Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) option: ETH-230 Ethics in a Digital Age
Does this mean he can take this 1 on Sophia?? Sure would save me some $$....Thoughts?

I'm not worried about taking 6 credits for financial aid...just need him to graduate with something and move on at this point[Image: smile.png]

Hey BSINSC, Info Lit is required to be taken in at TESU, it's the Cornerstone course, every-booty from catalog year 2019a onward will need it.  The other course is the Capstone for Bachelor degree seekers, those are the only two required courses, the rest can be transferred into the degrees.

You can take the course for residency requirements towards a Bachelors degree if he's going for one, then he'll have to get more credits and slowly work towards that Bachelors.  I would recommend him paying the residency waiver fee of $2800 if he's transferring everything over.  If he's doing more courses at TESU, he needs 16 credits to meet residency requirements, do a calculation and see which one would fit his budget (or yours actually since you're most likely the one paying for it).

So, to recap, with Study.com discount: $379 x 16 credits = $6064 for an Associates & Bachelors degree
This fee can be cheaper if he takes 3 months to do ALL those credits, it'll just be under $4K ($3,963 flat rate)
Paying the residency waiver: $379 x 6 + $2800 = $5074 for both the Associates & Bachelors degree

Note: If your son needs or wants to attend a local public university or just wants to get graded credits, paying the extra grand will generate 16 graded credits for GPA purposes.  Looking into the future: If he's not sure what degree he wants, he might want to get a BALS now, or if he's wanting to get a degree in Business, he can go for the BSBA.  90 credits can overlap (actually 99).

The only class for the AA that must be taken at TESU is SOS-110. If you don't have 16 credits at TESU (which you won't obviously) then you pay a $2800 fee.

Intro to Ethics at Sophia should work.
