I have a different question reg SDC written assignments. In the upper level psychology courses, I am noticing that there are two different kinds of instructions given. For some courses, it is expressly stated that the paper must be in the APA format, while for others, the instruction is for the citations to be in the APA format. What does this mean? That we basically write it in a continuous format like a high school essay, and just make it a point to follow the APA format for in-text citations and the reference section?

Yup - easy peasy, just stick to APA formatting for "everything" and you'll be fine. They grade it through a rubric, you need to do all that is required and they will evaluate your work. Make sure to use credible sources and you should be fine - 3 things, 2000+ words, APA formatting without grammar/spelling mistakes, primary/secondary sources.

They might have changed it recently but that for sure was the case earlier this year. I'm working on another course that requires an essay now, i'll post back with results on that
I basically emailed them about it when I received my grade back for the first assignment. She mentioned it wasn't necessary, but wanted to confirm it with me that I wasn't submitting it. I ended up just submitting something that was extremely brief for the 2nd assignment.

Some of SDC’s ‘Upper Level’ psych courses transfer into TESU as LL. For example, Advanced Social Psychology and physiological psychology. Will they exempt me from the written assignments if I requested them? I see no point in taking pains to write an essay for LL credits.

Why would they exempt you from taking something that influences the total grade?
If you received 100% on the exam, you still wouldn't have enough to pass the course....

I am seeing that one of the assignments for SDC’s English Comp courses is an APA style research paper. Suppose I have completed written assignments for UL Psych courses, what’s SDC’s policy if I wanted to turn in the same paper again? I have only authored that paper; why should I rewrite one? Has anyone tried it out?

They check it. They also check against a plagiarism database. They will want you to author a new paper.

You honestly expect to be able to use the same papers over and over again for various courses? You seriously had to ask this?

Not for ‘various’ courses. I understand if they expect me to write different papers for each of the 5-6 psychology courses I complete. Because each course deals with something very different. But I see an English language course as being over-arching. If they only want to check my written communication skills, they just need to look at all my papers. That was the point I was trying to make. And I don’t think me turning in my paper again qualifies to be called ‘plagiarism’.
Anyways, that was just to present my view, and to know your thoughts. I understand that is not SDC’s policy.
The other thing I am noticing is that SDC has designed each of its courses to be a ‘stand alone course’. They don’t seem to be bothered about the order in which you do the courses, or whether the contents in one course might be repeated in another. So, if someone completed the English Comp courses first, as is customary, testing their writing skills makes perfect sense. But if some of us did the English course somewhere in between, or may be even closer to earning a degree, we would have authored a few papers by then. And I frankly do not see a point in wanting to check my writing skills with a completely different paper. At least, if it was something like English literature and poetry, it would be a totally different learning curve. This, to me, feels like reinventing the wheel! Anyway, that’s my view.

One could argue that we're already taking a lot of short cuts by using these "alternative" methods to complete a degree which would normally require 4 years of full time effort. A "traditional" English composition course would require many more papers than SDC requires of you. No reason to cut corners on an already generous course.
I believe SDC is already "reinventing the wheel" by offering their courses as an alternative to traditional courses and no one is making you take their courses. There are many other options including testing out of the course altogether.
