I'm planning on attending TESU and have about 27 credits from UNLV that I want to transfer. I also have some courses I've failed that I don't want to ruin my gpa. If I retake the failed courses through Straighterline or Study.com will it get rid of the F's impact on my gpa? Also some courses I passed with a course with a C like ENG-101 and want to improve the letter grade what would be my best option?

No, it won't get rid of those
You can sometimes retake it at the same school to replace an old grade.
Some schools will not calculate old F's and D's.

Damn, thanks for the info. Do you know if any of the Big 3 don't calculate old F's and D's? The failed classes are from 5 years or older.

I don't think they do; I think it's more like if you want to apply for grad school or if anyone needs to look at your original transcripts, it'll still be there?

Wondering do many people ask to see original transcripts? Wondering if I'm going to get royally screwed somewhere in the future because of my bad habits 15+ years ago

*shrugs* I don't know. I plan on applying for an international grad school and I'm pretty sure they're going to want to see my real GPA. Since my TESU transcript won't have anything on it, I'll probably have to send them my old transcripts. Which is fine, but just takes more time.

MandarinSalad, you're in LUCK! TESU doesn't take in F grades, only D grades for CREDIT and GPA, but it's OK if you have a D or more.
The main thing is, you get CREDIT for those D's and C- or C's. Your grades above it will balance it out... keep going with the credits!!
