Are these recommended by ACE?
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

Currently ACE only shows the history courses. I'm guessing they will be added. If this is true, this puts a BA English in reach pretty easily at TESU.

This doesn't really fit in this thread, but it kind of does because mednat mentioned the BA in English being easier now with these Shmoop courses, so I'm going to ask here anyway. My end goal is to get a degree because one is needed for better jobs teaching English overseas where I live and plan to stay. Any degree will help greatly, but there are better jobs and more variety with a relevant degree like English, Linguistics and so on. My plan was to just get the BSBA because it is the fastest and probably easiest for someone going in without any credits and also avoids the $1500 capstone.

Saying all that, my main question is this: would it make sense for me to also get an AA since I will already be paying the residency waiver and graduation fee for the BSBA? I won't be able to do the capstone this year because of finances and I already paid the yearly fee for Study.com so I have to keep going with the BSBA at this point. However, a BA in English would seem to be fairly easy goal in the near future if these Shmoop courses will work towards that and it would make a lot more sense for my end goals.

Is there something I am missing or can I just tell TESU that I also want to go for the AA at the same time? Are there extra fees? Will it even matter in the future that I have the AA if I do move forward for the BA at some point or will I just send in my transcripts like normal and just have those slots filled and there not really be any advantage? I know I read a thread on here that said some people just like to get the extra associate's just for their own recognition and I think it would be kind of cool for myself to have a degree in both Science and Arts even if the AA is pretty pointless.

To add: another cool thing for me would be to be able to tell my parents that I essentially have two degrees no matter how powerful they each are. They were not able to go to college because of circumstances and I think they would be just a little more proud if I said I got the Bachelor's plus an additional Associate's.

The AA would make a lot of sense for a few reasons. The first being that it could have some utility for you while you're finishing the Bachelor's. The second would be if life might keep you from finishing the Bachelor's as soon as you planned. It may also help keep you motivated to have an intermediate goal that acheivable.

The general ed parts of the BSBA and BA Eng are going to be the largely the same, so you can keep going at Study.com, but work on the English degree instead, using Shmoop for the courses you can't get at Study.com. As far as an AA/AS goes, yes, you can just email advising with which Associate's you want to pursue, and they will create a second evaluation for you. No penalty if you end up only completing one of the two degrees, so no problem going ahead and doing so. I declared an ASNSM in Computer Science that I never did finish. The eval is still sitting in my account. It required an additional Assembly Language course, that I never fulfilled and saw no point in going back to do, since I got the BACS.

Has anyone sent in a request to tesu you to see how they will accept these credits and what the equivalent they would transfer in as?

Only the three history courses have been available until now, and they've only been available a couple weeks. TESU takes at least 25 business days after passing and sending ace transcripts to evaluate. There hasn't been time for that yet

Well I mean far as getting an answer from the registrar on how they would accept them or far as preapproving instead of taking the courses in case it ended up overlapping other literature courses that they offer. I'm surprised to see that the ace transcript guide hasn't updated far as the recommendations that ACE has for each course. I was hoping to see whether they are calling for all lower level credit or if some of the literature would be upper level credit.

Edit: I know that the emailed answer may not all ways be 100% correct when contacting them to find out what the class would qualify for but it'd would give in my opinion atleast an estimate until the registrar would start officially evaluating the courses from folks on here that take the course.
