Long Shot Math Course
#1
Okay so I know this is a long shot and I've searched the boards and also the internet. I'm overwhelmed at this point. I am trying to transfer into a school where they need 1 math course. From a university or Junior college that's accredited. I am looking for the fastest possible route that can be completed in 2 weeks at this point. The school will take CLEP and I am registering for the mathematics portion. I just don't want to put all my eggs in one basket seeing as how I can only take it once every six months. I was going to try Clep algebra first since it is the hardest in order to get a feel for CLEP and then maybe study for the mathematics. Some of the courses are proctored and that wouldn't be a problem for a final exam, but if all the test are proctored I'm worried about turnaround time. The don't take ALEKS or any ACE courses. I know its last minute but I was just informed.

Thanks in Advance

You can generally start these with a credit card and a phone call, I suspect it will be more like 6-8 weeks minimum though.

Math > Division of Extended Studies > Colorado State University-Pueblo

CLEP and DSST are the go to "short" courses when this is required. Does your school take DSST? That is what my daughter completed when she fell a couple points shy on the CLEP College Algebra.

Also know that CLEP has more than one math exam, College Math is generally regarded as easier than College Algebra and is often worth 6 credits rather than 3, DSST has both Intermediate Algebra and Statistics...so you have multiple testing options.

What school?
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Also I believe it's 3 months to retake not 6. That might be immaterial to your situation but never know.

but I doubt you could get it scheduled and a transcript sent in two weeks

Is this for the community college you currently attend?

This is one thing to keep in mind.. and I don't mean to be a "Debbie Downer," but if your score needs to be on you transcript and updated in the system at your school... 2 weeks may not be enough time. From what I hear going through SL/Saylor takes quite a while to see the credit on the transcript, which is fine if you have time. However, it sounds like you may not. Even CLEP and DSST normally take 2.5-3.5 weeks to arrive at my university, then another 2-3 days to process. I don't know your exact situation, but from the way it sounds.. you may be out of luck. If time is of the essence, jump on it now. Gotta get done sooner or later.

Best of luck to you !

It's common for an A.A. degree to require only 3 hours of math. Some schools won't give alternative credit until after you've completed a course with them.
63 CLEP Sociology
75 CLEP U.S. History II
63 CLEP College Algebra
70 CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
68 DSST Technical Writing
72 CLEP U.S. History I
77 CLEP College Mathematics
470 DSST Statistics
53 CLEP College Composition
73 CLEP Biology
54 CLEP Chemistry
77 CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications

Your current school will accept the DSST for Foundations of College Algebra and Principles of Statistics for math credit. They will not accept CLEP College Mathematics, but they will accept CLEP Precalculus and CLEP Calculus.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

What your current school will accept may be a different situation than what your scholarship requires, though.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies. I have been going out of my mind trying to help my brother. Its one problem with two solutions. Either he gets a humanities to get his AA to transfer into the new university, or he gets a math in order to bypass the need for the AA at the university. The university says that the CLEP would work and I don't think they take DSST. When I asked them which math they said anyone on the clep should be fine! So he is currently cramming for that test to take Monday. I dont want to put all the chickens in one basket though. Penn Foster has a Art course but I don't think the community college takes penn foster. I have tried asking them several times what course they would take for sure, but all they say is put it on a transcript and send it in. They do accept ace but there is really no way for me to clarify whether they take any course on ace or just ones from certain providers. I also found 3 1 credit communications courses from TEEX. If they could transfer in as a communications elective that might work since they count some communications courses as a humanities. We are working both sides and alot of people have been very sensitive to our situation due to the circumstances and the circumstances leading up to this and are willing to expedite most processes that they have the ability to.
