CLEP Western Civilization I
#1
Any recommendations on what study guide to buy for this test?

I didn't take it but check out: Study Guide for The Western Civilization I: Ancient Near East to 1648 CLEP

Seems that the pass rates are pretty high, and that people are satisfied with the e-flash card set. I'd read the forum advice for this topic, but you need to be an instantcert.com subscriber to have access to it. I'd try finding any practice exams too if there are any.

Instantcert is great, I also like the REA and Mometrix study guides as well. I prefer to use multiple means of study (flashcards/books/videos), but it all depends on how you learn.

Instantcert is my first off recommendation, however there are free resources for this test, check out UCLA's "The Western Tradition" on learner.org for free in 30 minute video segments, the lecturer was at one time thought to be the worlds greatest historian well worth a look, they are on youtube also but learner.org is a great resource.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

Hi, I am new to InstantCert. My son has taken 3 CLEP tests so far: American History I - 72, College Comp. - 66, and American Government 57. He didn't pass Spanish with a 43. He is planning to take Western Civ. I or Biology next, probably Western Civ. He has never used Instant Cert, and I am curious for some input about using Instant Cert. along with Education Portal Western Civ. videos to pass the test. He is currently taking World History (Notgrass) in homeschool highschool. We also have free access to the Peterson's practice exams through the military. Any advice would be welcomed. - Cindy

Dear Suzanne,

I didn't see one listed for Western Civ. I, but thanks. I am curious if anyone is using Education Portal videos to study. They have been helpful for some of the other tests, and I wasn't sure if they would be helpful for this one.
