University of Milwaukee Online Bachelor's Program - What the heck?
#1
Edit - I screwed up the post title - It's supposed to be University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee , not University of Milwaukee... My apologies.

I wasn't quite sure if this was suitable for the General forum, so I figured I'd stick it in here.

Most of us have found this forum as we strive to complete our education in a manner that's timely, inexpensive, and often (but not always) in a format that's distance learning based (via the Big Three or other options).

US News notes that University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's online Bachelor's program runs $91,200!!!! for IN STATE students. It also ranks 124th as far as support, credentialed teaching, and other measures against other schools with online programs.

Obviously, this isn't marketed towards people like us. And I could possibly see the merit of spending a large sum of money for a 'Pass through' degree - One that is from a large school with a good name that doesn't scream being an 'Online!' degree. But, its in-seat program, which runs about $10,000 per year for instate students, is ranked in the bottom 1/4 of regional universities by USNews.

The next most expensive is Penn State - World campus, which runs $30,000 less than UW-M's degree and the school is ranked 18th by USNews.

What would it take for you to spend $90k on an online degree? (Besides for many of us, having to win the lottery to even consider it).
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Well, I'm spending a justifiable amount on my current MS, because it will directly benefit my employment and it stands alone in a number of things that were important to me. That degree is costing me $650/credit plus fees. <GULP> That was a REAL stretch for me philosophically, and the total will end up around $24,000. Needing a specific kind of degree, limited my options a bit. My $24,000 is no where near $91,000 and I have to say if I won the lottery I'd rather donate $91,000 to a good cause than enroll in that program. I just don't feel the splurge of it- it's not like buying a Lambo, it's like buying a Buick on donks. Smile However, if I randomly fall into another $24,000 it will be spent finishing my degree at Harvard.
