I am interested in getting my BA in liberal studies and my California teaching credential. I have been taking classes at my Community college with the plans to transfer to the local universities program. However this is taking me forever. I am looking for the quickest and least expensive (not the eaisest) way to get my teaching in California. I was thinking about Western Governors University's teaching program, or maybe one of the Big Three and then doing a licensee program after, but that seems so long.
I have about 30 transferable credits 50 if you count the âDâ grades I received when I was young before I got my act together, but I am pretty sure those wont transfer anywhere.
Anyway I appreciate any insight any one might have! Thanks in advance

Western Governors University has bachelor's programs that include the licensure process. However, you have to be able to do a full-time, unpaid practicum for 12-20 weeks at the end of the program. If I don't get into the PhD programs I applied to, I'm thinking about doing the alternative teacher certification program in Texas. There are several companies and non-profit organizations that offer it online and self-paced. I think it's a few hundred dollars up front and then they take out the $4,000 or so you owe them in monthly installments after you're hired. I like this option because you teach on a temporary license for a year while being paid. I can't afford to teach a whole semester unpaid.
