Almost done = interview for dream job.
#1
Well I'm net keeping my hopes up, but I do have my fingers crossed.

I began this trip to finish my degree in the hopes that it will lead to a position managing an EMS agency. A Batchelors is expected and a Masters typically preferred for such positions. I recently applied for a Directors position and put on my resume that I was attending COSC expecting to graduate next month...I half expected to not make the cut since i don't technically qualify based on Education (or lack thereof). But this AM I got the call that I am one of nine candidates to be interviewed for the job! Smile

Far from a job offer, but I feel like just pursuing the degree has helped me get my feet in the door. Opportunity couldn't come at a better time....my existing employer will cease operations 90 days and I will be unemployed. I'm gonna hope and pray hard that something good comes of this.

Just thought I would share....Reb

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

This is great news for you. :hurray: Fingers crossed your interview goes well. It is amazing how just saying you will be done next month actually puts you in with all of the degree holders. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks guys!

I suspect the competition for this one to be pretty darn stiff! Nonetheless I kinda enjoy the interview process...I see it as a learning experience if nothing else so there really is nothing lost by trying! I would be happy if the interim director got the job and I could have his old job! I know I wouldn't be this far without the degree practically in my hands!

That is a great attitude. The interview process is a great way to learn very important lessons. Make sure you thank the people for taking the time to see you. Sometimes I forget to do that.
Also bring a few extra printed copies of your resume in a nice binder or something.
If there are multiple people interviewing you, make sure you make eye contact with all of them and when answering questions, speak to the whole group and not just the person who asked the question. Definitely give that person your full attention but do not neglect the others.

Good luck!

Good Luck with your interview. It's nice to see feedback from people regarding real world gains other than merely having an extra piece of paper in the stable. Congrats on being so close to your degree.

Good luck and you have a wonderful attitude that I hope wins you the position!! It is nice to be considered for such a competitive position and even if you don't get it, it's a very good sign of things to come as a soon-to-be graduate! Smile
