DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - IrishCoast - 06-02-2006 An Irish Greeting from the Irish Coast, Any study guide or study tip recommendations for this DANTES exam? Is there any on-line information available? Has anyone taken this exam? I could have sworn I saw flashcards for this one out on InstantCert. Thanks. DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - snazzlefrag - 06-03-2006 IrishCoast Wrote:An Irish Greeting from the Irish Coast, Welcome IrishCoast, I believe the content of the DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology exam overlaps substantially with the CLEP Human Growth & Development exam. Therefore, studying the HG&D section of Instantcert should be extremely beneficial. The DANTES factsheet will tell you exactly what you need to study: http://www.getcollegecredit.com/pdfs/factsheets/Lifespan%20Developmental%20Psychology.pdf Also, here are a few online links that may be helpful: Lecture Notes http://www.raritanval.edu/departments/HumanitiesSocSci/Part-Time/Wolfe/child/Notes.html Study Guides http://www.sparknotes.com/psychology/psych101/development/ http://www.sparknotes.com/psychology/developmental/intro/ PBS Free Online Video Series http://www.learner.org/resources/series54.html (added 6/4/06) Hope that helps, Snazzlefrag DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - snazzlefrag - 08-15-2006 Hi All, I just got back from taking DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology. My initial feeling is that this exam was "quite easy". I whizzed through the vast majority of the questions because they involved extremely straightforward recall of names, theories, concepts, fact, etc. But there were also several questions where I couldn't narrow down the answer choices, and had to guess. These were mostly 'trend' type questions (girls are more likely than boys to....40-50 year olds tend to do better than 60 year olds at....most teenagers in the 1990s felt that....) There were 97 questions on my version of the exam, and I finished in about 80 minutes. This exam is basically the DANTES version of CLEP Human Growth & Development, but under a different name. CLEP is timed and pass/fail, DANTES is untimed and graded. So take your pick! Instantcert's section on HG&D will probably prepare you adequately for this DANTES exam. I already posted some additional links that you might find useful. Here are some items that I encountered on MY version of this exam: (your version may/will cover other items) Names: Bandura Binet Cattell Chomsky Erikson Freud Gardner Gilligan Kohlberg Kubler-Ross Levinson Maslow Piaget Rogers Skinner Sternberg Vygotsky Concepts/Theories/Facts: Cognition Conservation, Permanence, Accomodation, Assimilation, Disequilibrium Senorimotor, Preoperational, Concret Operational, Formal Operational Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning Hierarchy of Needs Erikson's Psycho-social Development Stages (Trust v. Mistrust...etc.) Freud's Psycho-sexual Stages (Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latency, Genital...identify the order) Attachment/Bonding Social Interaction (Vygotsky) Down's Syndrome (most common chromosomal disorder) Klinefelter's Syndrome (XXY) Phoneme & Morpheme (definition) Teratogens APGAR Proximodistal Growth (definition) Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (large head) Alzheimer's Disease (first signs) Habituation Cross-modal Perception Babbling in hearing and non-hearing infants. Visual Cliff Experiment (tested for Depth Perception) Morality Theory (Kohlberg v. Gilligan) Stages of Dying (Kubler-Ross...identify the order) Boys v. Girls Suicide ADHD (diagnosis is difficult...MRI, CAT scans don't show etc.) Androgyny (definition) Parenting Styles (democratic, permissive, authoritative, authoritarian) Premack Principle (self-fulfilling prophecy) Fontanels (The soft spots/gaps in a baby's skull that allow for easier childbirth...useful to know!) Friendship (boy vs girls) Egocentrism Greying/Wrinkles (first sign of aging) Fluid v Crystallized Intelligence (Cattell...definition) Daycare (effects on IQ scores) Double Income Family (effect on social development of children) -- If you study all of the above, you should do well on this exam. As always, I hope this is helpful, Snazzlefrag DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - snazzlefrag - 08-25-2006 Hi All, I got my score for DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology in the mail today. I scored a 68. DANTES only took TEN(10) days to get my score to me for this exam. That's a new record for me. My previous record was 11 days. As always, thanks to every for you help and support, Snazzlefrag DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - arbornmedic - 09-06-2006 snazzlefrag Wrote:I believe the content of the DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology exam overlaps substantially with the CLEP Human Growth & Development exam. I took Lifespan Developmental Psych today (9/6) and I was much more confident than when I took CLEP HGD (I Got a 49). I HOPE I passed. Now, the wait begins!!! DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - Jubilee - 07-15-2009 I am thinking about taking this test tomorrow. Do I need to be concerned about the overlap this test has with Human G&D (which I've already taken)? DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - P00057870 - 07-15-2009 There are other posts saying that EC will not accept both as they overlap. Guess it would depend on the particular school. That is also why there are comments about CLEP being pass/fail and DSST is for a grade, and that you have an additional 30 minutes to take it DSST than the CLEP (2 hours vs 90 mins)....to help those who want to decide which ONE to take. Check out past forum posts to see if there are any comments on your particular school. Judy DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - countingnotes - 07-16-2009 this could be slightly OT....but the AP psychology exam is very easy to take, if you don't care which credit exam you take. i didn't take an AP psych class, but studied it on my own the week before and passed with a 4. (i'm not a psych wiz either lol) - it's just fairly easy to self-study for....anyway good luck with whatever you do :o DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - P00057870 - 07-16-2009 Aren't AP exams given only one time a year? How many credits do they generate and are they LL or UL? Thanks, Judy DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology - marqued - 07-16-2009 Hi all, I'm a newbie here, I've been reading your posts. You guys use other study material with the Instantcert Academy mock exams right? I joined Instant cert becasue I thought I wouldn't have to buy each book. Thanks Brenda |
