Legitimacy of "US Dept of Edu Student Information Center" - FrHaseKopf - 06-14-2022

Hi,
asking for a friend (international student outside US) . So she plans to finish an online degree but not sure how the companies in her country could verify US degrees. As I know, companies normally ask you to send a transcript from the university, or you give them a certified degree copy. But then she came across some website, like:

"National Student ClearingHouse"
https://nscverifications.org/degreeverify/

"US Dept. of Edu Student Information Center"
https://a.edgovsc.org/

Are these websites/institutions even legit? Is this actually a thing in the US?  what do you think?
Especially the second one looks phishy...

The StudentClearingHouse.org link is valid. I think TESU uses that to issue "digital degrees" these days. Students cannot sign up for it themselves. The other two links? No. Just... no.

You can check whether a school participates in DegreeVerify: https://www.studentclearinghouse.org/colleges/degreeverify/degreeverify-schools/

I think sending a transcript would be cheaper/easier unless the employer has a contract with NSC.

Edit: ED also has a database of accredited schools/programs at https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/
