Biochemistry options? - allvia - 04-28-2022 Any alternative options for Biochemistry? I have a friend looking to transfer it into WGU (RN to BSN) RE: Biochemistry options? - bjcheung77 - 04-28-2022 You can have a look at Portage Learning and see if that course will work for the friend. Otherwise I would recommend a community college that has online option. https://portagelearning.com/courses/chemistry RE: Biochemistry options? - rachel83az - 04-28-2022 Do you mean microbiology? https://partners.wgu.edu/Pages/Single.aspx?aid=19143&pid=54 I don't see biochemistry as a required course there. WGU recently changed the program (their evaluation was just received today 4/28/22)- Biochemistry is now a must for the RN to BSN. It is the only course, other than statistics (which will likely be done through sophia), left that they can transfer in. As you understand, they want to only what they must at WGU in hopes of a single term. RE: Biochemistry options? - Alpha - 04-28-2022 Biochem can exist as an upper or lower level course, with a lab, without a lab, etc.. Does it matter? Online Biochemistry Course | MCAT or Med School Prep | Arizona Online RE: Biochemistry options? - dfrecore - 04-28-2022 Portgage/Geneva College is $198/cr, self-paced CHEM 210: Biochemistry 3cr Logan University is $275/cr CHEM 210: Biochemistry Doane University is $329/cr CHEM 330: Biochemistry I UNE Online is $340/cr, self-paced Medical Biochemistry RE: Biochemistry options? - carrythenothing - 04-28-2022 There's also a 3-credit, self-paced Cellular Biochemistry course available through Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS): https://www.mcphs.edu/academics/school-of-professional-studies/prerequisites/cellular-biochemistry $460/credit but "New students are eligible to receive a 50% reduction in the cost of tuition for one course" ($230/credit, or $690 total) RE: Biochemistry options? - knaves - 04-28-2022 Multiple people have reported that the WGU biochem course is extremely easy- I would encourage your friend to compare reviews of the WGU course to any other provider. RE: Biochemistry options? - Insert Name - 04-28-2022 Going to ask the question. I see SDC recommended for lab science often. Is there a reason SDC is recommended over Portage? Is it just cost? Or is there something else? RE: Biochemistry options? - ss20ts - 04-28-2022 (04-28-2022, 10:30 PM)Insert Name Wrote: Going to ask the question. I see SDC recommended for lab science often. Is there a reason SDC is recommended over Portage? Is it just cost? Or is there something else? The lab sciences at Study.com are recommended for UMPI. They don't have biochem. Portgage costs far more than Study. I don't see Portage on the UMPI transfer database. We know how the courses from Study transfer to UMPI. ETA: I did find a few courses from Geneva College transferred to UMPI. Don't know if they are actual Geneva College courses or Portage courses though. Someone transferred an English course in. If that was a Portage course it's totally overpriced. It's almost $600 for that course. Sophia, Study, and StraigherLine are FAR cheaper. Maybe if you need RA credit this is a good idea? Don't know if they're considered RA credits though. |
