RE: New Associate Degree Competancy Provider - jsd - 04-01-2022 That's awesome, a pretty good price. Too bad it's only AA, but it's a great way to start out and dip your toes in the CBE waters. They might want to stop using the phrase Flex Path though, because that's a Capella trademark, and I can't imagine Capella not trying to defend that trademark. RE: New Associate Degree Competency Provider - bjcheung77 - 04-01-2022 Wow, Oh Snap! This just dropped the price to the TESU degree as an example, if you can get 15 credits RA from this for $715, you can use ACE/NCCRS for the rest of the credits and take a 16 credit term at TESU to finish the degree for under $5K. Someone should check this out and see how to ladder into a TESU BALS or BSBA, and even at COSC or another college/university. RE: New Associate Degree Competency Provider - dfrecore - 04-01-2022 It's a cheap way to get 24cr of RA for TESU or COSC if you need that. ONU is $1200 for 24cr. The only downsides are that you're a bit limited on courses; and it's unclear if you can choose your courses in a term; and you have set terms like UMPI, rather than self-paced start-when-you want like ONU. But it's still a good option for some people. Oh yeah, and after looking at their ACE list, it's pretty limited as well. 6 Sophia and 8 SL courses. Not sure if they're amenable to other things like CLEP, DSST, Study.com, etc. And more Sophia courses for sure. It might be nice if someone who had a bunch of Sophia (and other) courses wanted to apply to the program, and send in the Request for Evaluation of Prior Learning https://www.cnm.edu/students/services/transfer/credit-for-prior-learning/documents/request_for_evaluation_of_prior_learning.pdf. I mean, only 6 Sophia courses are listed, and that's not nearly enough! I'll bet they'd do more, they just haven't had anyone request them. RE: New Associate Degree Competency Provider - Vle045 - 04-01-2022 I thought this might be an April Fools joke because that website is really BAD. And they have Guided Path and Flex Path like Capella. RE: New Competency Based Associate Degree - carrythenothing - 04-01-2022 Credit for Prior Learning - ACE credit: https://www.cnm.edu/students/services/transfer/credit-for-prior-learning/documents/cpl_ace-credit.pdf Credit for standardized exams: https://www.cnm.edu/students/services/transfer/credit-for-prior-learning/advanced-placement-ap-and-college-level-examination-program-clep RE: New Competency Based Associate Degree - Vle045 - 04-01-2022 Actually, after poking around on the website, I found a career assessment which was interesting and a neat resume builder. RE: New Competency Based Associate Degree - ashkir - 04-02-2022 I'm really curious to how this works out for some people. This even seems like a great stepping stone to UMPI or for people who only want an AA. This is even a great stepping stone to some of the others of the Big 5 like TESU, COSC, Excelsior, and WGU with transferrable RA credits. |
