Study.com question - a2jc4life - 04-12-2017 If I want to allow myself plenty of time to work through courses at Study.com, is it possible to enroll with a lower-level plan and start working through courses, and upgrade to the College Accelerator plan when I get close to finishing, so I can take the exams? Or will I end up having to start the courses over/not have access to the same ones? (Also, is there a separate test fee, or is that included with the CA plan?) Trying to figure up costs and sort out which sites will be the most cost-effective options. Study.com question - inkleind - 04-12-2017 This is actually a pretty good question. If that's a possibility, I could totally see myself paying for a month of the middle plan and getting all the courses completed except for the finals and then upgrading and adding a few finals to it. Study.com question - Brownie82 - 04-12-2017 That's something I planned on doing. But, save yourself the trouble and apply for the Guardian Scholarship. You'll get 3 months free. You'll have to go through and take the Personal Finance course first before you can even explore the site or enroll in other courses, but it's worth it. You get some good info and 24 free ACE credits
Study.com question - a2jc4life - 04-12-2017 Will do; thank you! Do you know how intensive/difficult the Personal Finance course is? And/or how long the scholarship application process usually takes? And/or how long the scholarship application process usually takes? Doing the application is quick. Some people have heard back the same day, but often it's 3 days to 2 weeks. And sometimes it's 3 weeks. I'm not sure if it's ever much longer. If you don't get it, they don't write you. Study.com question - a2jc4life - 04-12-2017 Thank you! I have finals in about 2 weeks, so I'm thinking I probably want to wait 'til I'm done with those. I'm not likely to be studying for a new class while preparing for final exams! ALEKS can get you lots of credits in one month for $20. Shmoop is $89 and you can also get lots of credits. Saylor is $25 per 3 credits. Straighterline is cheaper than study.com if you work fast enough... well, some courses are expensive, but most aren't. Study.com question - rlw74 - 04-12-2017 The personal finance course is pretty easy if you are familiar with budgeting and basic things like how auto insurance, health insurance, credit cards etc work. I finished in about a day and a half and I was taking other courses at the same time. Study.com question - bjcheung77 - 04-13-2017 If you are going to go with Study.com, you may also want to go with Straighterline as well... depending on what you require. Here's a post I did in another thread: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-education-testing-discussion/28792-ba-16-18-weeks.html#post234369 Study.com question - a2jc4life - 04-17-2017 Oh, thanks! I was wondering if it's possible to work ahead. They said not to "explore the site" prior to finishing the Personal Finance class or they might cancel my membership, so I was wondering how people get two classes done in a month! |
