Elementary Education course credit needed asap - Julie S. - 08-10-2016 My daughter-in-law just got a new job, but is required to obtain 3 more credits in education. She can't take the CLEP or DSST because she already has those two courses from a B&M (Intro or Foundations and Ed. Psych). She has also taken Children's Lit. Any ideas where else she can take a test or quick course to fulfill this requirement? Thanks so much, Julie Elementary Education course credit needed asap - cookderosa - 08-10-2016 Julie S. I had taken Children's literature a semester or 2 before that. Excelsior gives a grade for the exam and upper level credit. TESC gave me 6 upper level credits but still only a pass fail grade. I found the reading of the different level children's books and learning the different ways to present it was worth the time I put into studying for this one. I knew I could count on you guys! What a treasure trove of ideas and information. Thank you all for such quick responses. I've started looking into some of these ideas and we're trying to figure out which are the best options. She's a bit nervous because it's been several years since she was in school (2 years at a B&M) and has never done an online or CLEP type course. Jennifer, do you think the Annenberg courses would be too difficult since they are on a graduate level? She did well in her LL courses, but had to really work at it. A couple of the Annenberg ones look quite interesting, but I'm not sure about the level of expected requirements. We asked for some of the PF syllabi to be emailed and we are also interested in the Excelsior Literary Course. Again, thank you all so very much!! Julie Elementary Education course credit needed asap - Julie S. - 08-11-2016 Thanks, Linda! My daughter-in-law had Children's Lit, but it was several years ago. She's also been out of school for a few years after completing 2 years at a B&M. She's never done an online or self-study and then test type of course. How difficult was the study for the exam? You stated it was worth the time studying and it definitely looks interesting - how much preparation time would you expect would be reasonable for this course? What resources did you find most helpful? If you have any other tips or ideas that you think might help us, that would be much appreciated. Thanks again for your help! Julie Elementary Education course credit needed asap - Julie S. - 08-11-2016 Thank you, Bluebooger! We just received the syllabi for some of these courses. Have you had any experience with any of them? Since she hasn't done anything like this before, which one(s) do you think would be best to start with (if she likes the format, we may do more than one)? Julie |
