Need To Get Back On Track - mattack91 - 11-05-2015 Hello All, It's been a long time since I visited these forums. I was moving at a quick pace (93 credits in 6 months!!), but life reared its ugly head, and I had to step away for a while. Anyways, I finally got the distractions under control, but it seems that I took off the worst 6 months possible. All the requirements have changed, tests have been downgraded, and it seems that I'm much farther away from my degree goals then previously thought. Either way, no crying over spilt milk, plus I have gotten one good thing. Without going into too much detail, I've been offered a great job, and as long as I finish my degree, any degree, its mine, so I'm motivated to get this done. My initial plan when I started way back when was a BA in History from TESC, and these were the exams I have already passed up until this point: CLEP College Composition CLEP College Math CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications CLEP Humanities (NOW 3) CLEP Social Science and History CLEP Natural Science CLEP Intro to Sociology DSST Ethics in America DSST Business Ethics CLEP English Literature (NOW 3) CLEP American Literature (NOW 3) CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (NOW 3) CLEP Western Civilization I CLEP Western Civilization II CLEP United States History I CLEP United States History II DSST Civil War and Reconstruction CLEP Principles of Macroeconomics CLEP American Government CLEP Principles of Marketing CLEP Principles of Management CLEP Human Growth and Development I'm still crawling through 6 months worth of posts, but it seems to me I'm skinning 12 credits off the top, putting my new total at 81 credits. What are some of the easier degree pathways with all the new changes in affect? I'd imagine its still going to be a liberal arts degree with a majority of my credits being on that side of the spectrum, but I wouldn't be adverse to a business degree with an easier path. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Need To Get Back On Track - dfrecore - 11-05-2015 Have you applied at TESC yet? I think if you haven't, you need to ASAP, so that you know for sure how many credits you'll get. Their website still says the old number of credits. Next: how do you plan on getting the rest of the credits you need? Do you want to go as fast as possible with no thought to cost? Do you want to take more exams? Do you need to take 8 TECEP's to get your residency at TESC, or are you going to pay the $3000 enrollment fee? I can help plan the degrees for you, but I need more info before I can start. I would think either Liberal Studies or General Management would be the easiest to plan. History is going to be more difficult, they've removed a couple of the UL DSST's that counted in that area. You would definitely have to take some courses for that. Need To Get Back On Track - Prloko - 11-05-2015 For the exams that been downgraded, it shouldn't matter for you as the school will award credit based on the assessment when you took the exam. If you took it a year ago, you are going to get 6 credits for A&I lit. Also, you may still be current under the old catalog (if you had previously enrolled within that last year). Good news is you can still get your schooling done quickly with all the cheap and free resources around. Let us know where you currently stand and what degree you are thinking of. |
