I was able to complete the European History course in the 24 hour trial and received the credit in my ACE transcript (with about 45 minutes to spare) without having to pay. Just an FYI to everyone. It's possible to get at least 3 credits out of this for free. I don't know if 6 or 9 is really possible but it may be!
Also...I'd like to give a shout-out to "rounding" as I finished with a 69.6%! I had to retake one test after the final because I was sitting at 69.2% and I just made it. Normally I'd be embarrassed but for 3 free credits in under a day, I'll take it!
**Also- Be aware that you are in the correct course. Somehow after the final I ended up in World History and unfortunately completed a unit test in that course before I realized it. Now that is something I will be embarrassed about because I wasted about 45 minutes of my life. I thought it was really odd that I suddenly had to do an essay but just chalked it up to the test being a retake. The topics are very similar in both classes.

1. The price change should change on or around August 26. The price for a subscription will increase to $87.68/month. However, at that point, we will have 13 courses to offer (with more to come), so the selection will be even greater.
2. If you subscribe now, you'll pay the current price until the price change, at which point, you'll have to change your plan in order to access the courses.
3. The community college courses are not (and will not be) ACE CREDIT® recommended. They are just courses that we felt were appropriate for community college level. We'll likely be retiring these courses soon, now that we have the college courses that are appropriate for 2- and 4-year colleges.

An update about the Shmoop courses, there's going to be 10 extra math courses, then some other courses added in a matter of weeks.
The pricing will be "bumped" to a higher price for the subscription, but well worth it if those 10 courses don't duplicate ALEKS.
I'll be waiting to see what other courses comes into light, hopefully, in the next month or so. Thanks again for a great find!

Just an FYI for those individuals new to Shmoop, I just registered for Shmoop, in 10 days to a couple of weeks, they'll bump the pricing up for the membership in regards to the ACE Credit recommended courses. I am reviewing the courses right now for the three history courses and it's going good. The strategy I use for the FREE courses actually works on this as well, I have one window open for the course and one for the exam. Note1: There are quizzes, I just blast through them as they're not for grades.
Note2: They'll have 10 more math courses when that price comes up, so if you have a few math courses you'll use for electives, you'll be good. In addition to the 10 math courses, they'll be coming up with 12 Literature courses also included in the monthly fee. So, for example, people going for a BALS would love this shmoop membership, as 3 months or so will get them 25 courses, or 75 credits!!

I didn't even bother with the quizzes. I just accessed the unit tests on the side menu and went right to them. That may be the reason why when I finished all tests and the final it told me I only had 92% of the course completed. I still applied to ACE and received the credit at that completion percentage. That should save you some time unless you want to read the quiz questions to give you an idea of how the tests questions will be. I did notice that some of the test questions were identical to quiz questions as I was searching for answers.

Am I understanding this right? If you enroll and finish a course for ACE credit before Aug. 26 it will be ~$25 but if you don't finish until Aug.27 the cost is now ~$87 for that same ace credit?

Yes, if you need another month after the 27th you'll pay the new rate.
They started with 3 courses, you have access to all 3 for 25 a month. They're adding the 10 math courses plus plans for additional on the way, so they bumped up the price. As far as we know, you could finish all 13 classes in one month, making it 39 credits for under $90. Not bad! Not very likely, of course. But it's a heck of a lot cheaper than most options! And I'm sure a lot of folks like that it's non-proctored, at least for now.

If you choose to upgrade your subscription at that time, you will not lose any progress in your courses, but you will need to upgrade in order to continue accessing our ACE CREDIT recommended courses.
That is from the course description on one of the current ACE approved History courses. Am I the only one who is concerned that they will make you upgrade to the $87 or whatever price immediately when the price increase happens and not just if you need another month? Like if I pay $25 today to subscribe for the month and then on the 27th will I have to pay extra to get to the new price to continue in my course? Normally I'd assume you would finish the subscription month at the original price but the way that is worded has me wondering. The parts I stressed are the phrases that I am talking about.
