Some of these degrees require little time or money so it’s sort of moot. The avenues of approach some take here to hack degrees (Multiple) are…interesting. It’s not someone just trying to break past HR filters by getting a BA degree. To eaches own. It is easier in the bachelor's degree program to get a degree with many options using different degree hacks, such as the Big 3, Liberty, WGU, SNHU, UMPI, etc., accepting transfer and alternative credits. I can see what you are saying when you see people getting multiple degrees, but I can't blame them when it's costing them little money or little time. I rather have something than need it later, honestly, especially when it comes to education. If someone wants multiple associate and bachelor's degrees in numerous subjects such as History, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Business, and Liberal Studies, etc., more power to them as they gain different learning disciplines. We should be madder at the system or schools that allow this, but hey, get it while you can. We all saw what happened to Pierpont when the ship sailed, and domino effects sometimes occur. RE: people who have multiple degrees - Heartstrings - 10-27-2024 I'll admit I have multiple degrees that I have no plan on using for a career and I am signed up to complete more. I am spending my own money and I can spend it on what I choose to do so. I really don't care about being called a credential chaser. I love learning and I when I finish something I like getting a gold star. The first bachelor's degree was to continue my journey to my masters. The second bachelor's degree was done in case I did not finish my first bachelor's degree (long story, but it was a math course I was not sure I would finish in time for grad school). My first master's degree was in continuation of the journey started with the first bachelor's degree. The second, as it turned out, got me the great job (which I have today). The PhD was to finish the journey started with the first bachelor's degree. It was for fun, as it were. I had no false illusions that my PhD would get me a job, so when I finished, I would not be disappointed. As I tell folks, my first bachelor's degree, my first master's degree and my doctorate and 50 cents might get me a Coke at Wal Mart. Completely perfect and in the everything is moderate. RE: people who have multiple degrees - Kal Di - 10-30-2024 I'm a semi-retired, American expat who has two properties in the USA for rental income. I have multiple degrees because I enjoy learning and love to use my educational achievements to inspire others. It's unlikely if my degrees will be useful to me in the short term. If my current lifestyle changes significantly, perhaps they'll be useful in the future. If I discover another affordable graduate degree program that interests me, I'll probably enroll, complete it, and add it to my wall of achievements. I don't study perpetually though. Typically, after completing a degree program or some professional / specialization certificate (i.e. Coursera) programs, I take a 1 year break from studying. people who have multiple degrees - NotJoeBiden - 10-30-2024 (10-30-2024, 01:47 PM)Duneranger Wrote:(10-27-2024, 11:36 AM)Heartstrings Wrote: I'll admit I have multiple degrees that I have no plan on using for a career and I am signed up to complete more.
