I explained to her that state guards, state military reserves, and state defense forces are not the National Guard. I explained that the Texas State Guard is not the Texas National Guard or Texas Air Guard. I even linked to a Wikipedia article that explained what state defense forces are. I don't know how else to explain it. COSC understood that these are state militias and said no. Excelsior understood what they were and said yes. Liberty understood what they were and said no to the military discount, but said they might qualify for the Emergency Responder discount.
All you can do is send an email to them asking about the Tennessee State Guard. If they say yes, then provide your documents.

Oh, I'm not a member.
I was an independent contractor providing some services to the National Guard in a few capacities. But, I'd join the State Guard in a minute if I thought it would erase the TESU residency waiver fee!
But, they say it won't, so... :nopity: me, right? LOL

That is what the counselor said. You don't know what the counselor communicated to the military department. Also, MDCP does require 24 credits in residence. I think they're still counting TECEPs. Never depend on TESU reps to communicate anything.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary members can receive a JST (Joint Service Transcript) after completing ACE-approved courses.

I went through my old emails and forgot about the response to this one sent to TESU in January 2016.

This was TESU's response. It doesn't really answer the question, but this is the answer I've been getting even after explaining what the Texas State Guard is.

Recently, I asked Excelsior this question for a coworker.

I double checked like I often do since different advisors will give you different answers. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Civil Air Patrol do not qualify for the military discount at TESU. I have no idea why Excelsior is saying that the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary qualifies for the military discount but the Civil Air Patrol doesn't. There are some minor differences, but they're basically the same thing.
