I just called ALEKS and asked about the situation, I was told that they were going to talk with ACE in a couple weeks with a goal of becoming recertified. I inquired if I should continue using the system or wait until they had an answer, they basically told me it's up to me (obviously) but that it was their goal to attain recertification (however they can't guarantee it will happen.)
I also emailed someone at ACE that I had been working with, asking the same question, I'll post the answer here if I get one.

Look at it as you ALREADY KNOW 16% of the material before even starting! That's pretty cool. I think my initial assessment was somewhere around 10-15%

Thanks cookderosa, i'm still trying to figure it out with aleks. How does it work with aleks, after i do some of the problems, how many do i have to do before the quiz? once i complete the quiz if i have a 70 will i be able to send it to ace for credit? or do i need to go all the way to 116% to get credit?

You need to pass an assessment not a quiz with a percentage of 70 or better. You need to study and learn from the pie chart and complete as many of the slices as you need to get an assessment of at least 70%.

You can request a new assessment from your master account at any time, but ALEKS really likes to see you get above 70% in your pie before it will give you above 70% on your assessment. Your mileage may vary, of course. Good luck!

is ALEKS totally re certified? Can I go on tomorrow and register for 2 courses and do them? I need beginning algabra and intermediate algebra. I dont really know them at all because I havent done math in years but that would be cool if by miracle I do well on the assessment part.
