Started Jan 31, 2022, finishing by May 2023. Three courses left to go. Highly recommend. If you want fast (as you have stated), no question, WGU. I am in no hurry and have had the best experience.

Can you tell us about the paper writing?  Like, are there tyically long papers for any of the classes?

Varies from class to class. Some have 1-2 papers of 1500-2000 words others have a single 10,000-word paper which is very reasonable as long as you manage your time efficiently. The final thesis in the capstone may be 20,000+ words (confirm with the Dean). Please see the helpful thread below that may address any other questions you may have.

Here is the Deans email. Please get in touch with her. Consider it part of your due diligence.

20 pages for an MBA capstone is nothing. That's really short!

Well, the HAU capstone looks more like 40 pages.  Ugh.  Nope, nope, nopity nope.  I was circling back to considering HAU due to the price, but that’s just not my thing.  JWMI has a different philosophy.  I don’t think I’d ever be tasked with a 20 or 40 page paper.

You can do a paper or a consultancy, it's your choice.

I haven't gotten any details about the consultancy other than what the website says.

I finished the MBA degree from HAU (July 2022) and let me tell you yes you are going to write for your capstone trust me. It is a lot of research plus you must submit an IRB application along with it to support your research. In 7-weeks it feels short to do all this you will be under a lot of pressure and writers block will hit you. I finished my paper on the last day it was due at 5pm. I got an A but took a lot of time and work out of me.

Regarding the program its not really self-paced as class are 7 1/2 weeks each or 15 weeks (only some classes are offered 7 1/2 weeks typically one or two courses each semester very limited but they do rotate. Most classes are offered 15 weeks long over in Greece but they are taught in english). Your classes will have a mix of students from different time zones as some may be from different parts of the United States, Greece, or different countries and you may be assigned to do group work with these people. Some classes require you to be present live on webcam at a certain hour and to participate. Some classes also require you to do a presentation live on webcam as well.

Overall my experience was great and for the price it was worth it but this program may not work for everyone as some people want speed, self-pace, no long papers, no group work, certain business accreditation etc. It is best to do your research before you sign up.

Also note although the tuition is $3000, there is no financial aid for that $3k. You must pay it in cash. First payment is due before the start of classes of $1500 and 9 months later the next $1500 is due. I can not guaranteed how long this price will remain as it should of ended almost a year ago.

I had a great conversation with the Dean yesterday. It sounds like a great program. Some updates to wavering questions (mostly from me – ha).
  • Yes, mix of different assignments, papers, quizzes, tests and depends on the professor.
  • Online vs in-person? Everyone has opted for online so there is not really an in-person option at this time.
  • Regarding accreditations, they are working on a business school accreditation (likely the international one for obvious reasons). No exact timelines but if you research what it takes to get them, it is a very timely process for the evaluation.
  • The $3K price is indeed to be paid in cash but most importantly your commit. So, if you sign up thinking let's try this, be ready to work to finish or eat $3K. However, some single classes at some schools cost more than this.
  • You may be able to transfer in from other graduate classes or some amount of real-world experience. It may only be a class but still good to know.
Overall, some of the better elements of an MBA seem to exist with this program including research, networking /interacting with others, presenting, and some aggressive deadlines. Having been in management for a long time I can share that besides the content of the l classes (HR, accounting, leadership, etc) that these working elements of the degree program are all very important to be an effective manager in the real-world.
