I concur. I've also gotten more than 30% from placement tests... particularly if you take the additional ones.

So my question still remains if someone gets a perfect score on the placement test how much of the course does that test you out of?

No way to know. I'm sure each course is different too, just like not every course even has a placement test available.

For 'Presentation Skills in the Workplace', the Practice Test (it was called a practice test, NOT a placement test) caused me to have 11 quizzes marked as complete. I wonder if they are called different things in different courses too.

Yeah that's the one I took and it was called a practice test.

Courses with placement tests also have practice tests. In other words, every course has practice tests but not all courses have placement tests.

The placement tests are usually 30 questions long and each right answer will mark a category of quiz questions complete. I've seen as many as 5 topics get updated from a single placement test question. Correct answers on practice tests can also mark quiz questions correct, but the placement tests are broader and more efficient for this purpose.

Chapter practice tests are intended to be taken after you've completed a chapter and the final practice tests are meant to be taken after you've completed all the course materials. Both are intended to help ensure you're ready to take the final exam. The fact that they can also complete sections of the quizzes is secondary.

Then again, even if you mark sections complete, if you don't know the course content well you'll still need to review the lessons in order to pass the final exam. So trying to pre-complete more quiz areas doesn't necessarily help that much unless you're already familiar with the course material.
