CLEP My Account - Bibby - 09-12-2013 "Sophisticated testing platform with contemporary design." Does that mean the test interface won't look like a Windows 3.1 computer any more? If so, that's probably a step in the right direction, although if I ever take another CLEP for some reason, I bet I'll feel nostalgic for the old look. Also, getting students in and out with less "seat time" sounds great; taking a test is reason enough to be nervous, and there's no good reason to drag it out longer than necessary with the registration process. CLEP My Account - BGSU_Alum_86 - 09-13-2013 It is my understanding that the look of the test has undergone a transformation, which is a very good thing as I have heard many complaints over the appearance! Our test center undergoes the switch 10/22 with training a few weeks beforehand. I should know more about the appearance once we go through that step - can't wait! CLEP My Account - BGSU_Alum_86 - 09-17-2013 OMG, My Account disappoints me tremendously! Have any of you checked it out? When creating an account, you are actually creating a CollegeBoard account which then makes it seem as though you can only check out info on SAT, AP, PSAT, etc. You have to click back to CLEP's homepage and now you should see "My Account" listed above the Search box. Once you select one of the options (Manage Profile, My Exams, My Orders), you will be asked to log in -- again! If you want to register and pay for an exam, select My Orders. Scroll down until you see "Recent Orders" and you should see the link under the box if you want to "order a CLEP exam" (also a link to "order CLEP materials"). You will now see what looks like the same screens as when you look up the exam details/info only CLEP added selection boxes for ordering the exam ($80), the exam's study guide ($10), or the CLEP Official Study Guide book ($24.99), plus the free At a Glance download offered for every exam. You do not designate your score recipient until you are working through the process (long) of paying for this registered exam! I was thinking this process would be similar to DSST, but it is nowhere close. I was at least hoping that the score recipient info would be kept on your profile (Manage Profile), but it is not. You can, however, designate your "preferred test center", though that is not required. At least initially, this seems a painful process. I keep wondering about the sample group of people who tested this out before its launch. I would love to hear your thoughts after you give it a try... CLEP My Account - topdog98 - 09-17-2013 I called today to schedule a CLEP with the testing center at my local community college, and they had not even heard of this new change. I have one CLEP scheduled for next week and one in October. I hope I don't have any trouble. I guess I will just assume they are operating under the old system until they tell me otherwise. CLEP My Account - BGSU_Alum_86 - 09-17-2013 Topdog, you might want to make them aware of the coming change as I have heard that there are a large number of CLEP test centers who are unaware of the change to the IBT platform. If they don't schedule the migration before the cut-off date (sometime in April of 2014), they will no longer be able to deliver CLEP exams. I see this causing huge headaches at military test centers. If anyone has ever worked with a government employee, you know you have to do everything FOR THEM. Probably will have to educate them on the new system and walk them through it. Also, I wonder if the new interface would be java based, contrary to popular belief, military networks aren't advanced and sophisticated like on tv, they are archaic and half run off of mainframes. They haven't even updated Internet Explorer in years and half of the websites are not compatible. Java based sites run slow, and if CLEP is, I wonder how many people's exams will time out. CLEP My Account - BGSU_Alum_86 - 09-20-2013 All test centers who have scheduled their migration date will have specifications sent to their IT department/person. Everyone will know what is needed in order to continue delivering the CLEP exams on the computers. Oh, every test center administrator and proctor will be trained in the new platform and have to get certified before the center can deliver the new exams. CLEP My Account - EI2HCB - 09-24-2013 Is there any way we can put this Thread were it is seen by everyone on the forum as they check out the forum. That way we can keep updated without having to search for this page each time? CLEP My Account - topdog98 - 10-19-2013 My test center has already transitioned to this. It is funny because when I called to schedule this CLEP, they hadn't even heard of the change. But when I went to take it, they had already implemented it. They asked for a voucher that I didn't have. However, I was able to pay the old way this time. Next time they said I would need to bring the voucher. CLEP My Account - EI2HCB - 10-19-2013 I dropped by my test center yesterday, to see about taking another test and they weren't in the slightest concerned about IBT they told me I can get a voucher or I can pay on the interface when I get there, I think I'll run with paying when I get there until its all sorted out online. |
