Is everyone aware of the big change coming to CLEP this fall? They are making the transition to IBT (rather than CBT). One of the biggest differences will be your responsibility to create your own account (on My Account) and register for each CLEP exam you need to take. You will pay the exam fee and designate your score recipient (plus your preferred test center, though not required) before printing out a registration ticket. You will still need to contact your test center to follow their appointment procedures, but you will not pay the $80 exam fee once at the test center (already done through My Account). You must bring the ticket with you (or be able to show the image of the ticket on your smartphone).
All CLEP test centers will accept the registration ticket, whether they have made the transition to the new IBT method or still operating under the CBT method.
If I understand correctly, once the My Account site is launched (and I hear it is to be 9/17!!!), you must register for your exams this way.
If you have more questions, contact CLEP Services or post them here and I will try to answer them. I have limited knowledge as of this time, but I will do my best to help out!
This is supposed to be less work on the test center administrators, but I'll believe it when I see it!

Sort of, at least in regards to the test being delivered via the internet and not relying on a server connection between the test centers and CLEP/ETS.
The big difference is that the candidate must register and pay for their exam, printing off the registration ticket when completed, before arriving at the test center to take their exam. This registration/payment process will be done through My Account.
I have talked with CLEP as there is nothing that shows My Account on the CLEP website. I was given a URL for this portal, but cannot verify that it is correct until 9/17! I am not too happy about this as I like to make sure everything is set up for my candidates so they can have a smooth experience from beginning to end.

I assume with "My account" you will be able to view past Clep scores, like you can do on the DSST website. I'm usually not a fan of change, but I don't really see any negatives here.

There has been no mention of having access to previous exams/scores. As far as I know, candidates will be able to view their personal information (contact info, birth date, etc.) and score recipient info. Unofficial score reports will only be available at the test center on the day of testing, so this tells me that no, you will not have access to past scores.
With no information provided back when this was first announced to the test centers, I was like many of you and thought that this might go the route of DSST. But now it seems this is not the case. I am looking forward to the 17th so that I can see exactly what this My Account allows!

No access to past scores would be a real drag. I hope they implement that some day. I know it doesnt make much difference exactly what score you get as long as you pass, but I have lost a few old unofficial score reports and would like to see that info

Well, we can only hope that this is one of those details that will be included in your account info but no communication has been made about it as yet.

So Anyone registering for tests over the next few weeks should let us know how it goes. I was planning on taking another history CLEP in a few weeks, I just hope my center is aware of it. (my center isn't the most helpful bunch) Any news of changing the exam format other than to the internet. Will it still look and feel the same as the old one? In addition will this also change for U.S armed services currently overseas?
Thank you for the updates

Also looks like the current eCBT Software will Disabled between October 2013 and April 2013 which mean the testing will switch at that point for sure so we'll all enter the internet age as we do our CLEPs Yippie!
