Big Grin TESU BSBA - Finance Help
Posted by: quigongene - 05-18-2025, 09:21 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (6)

Hey peeps,

I was pretty active on this forum a few years ago.  My wife is now looking to get a bachelors in Finance.  I've come up with a rudimentary degree plan for her, but I wanted the pros here to have a look and make sure I'm not missing anything.  Thanks in advance.  Shy

Your Location: Florida, USA
Wife's Age: 47 (48 in August)
What kind of degree does she want?: Bachelors (BSBA - Finance)
Current Regional Accredited Credits: Please see attached PDF.

Any certifications or military experience? She has an expired realtor license.
Budget: Trying to keep it as low as possible.  Under $8K?
Commitments: She's a SAHM for one preteen.
Dedicated time to study: 1-2 hours per day M-F, and then open on the weekends usually.
Timeline: Graduation by the end of 2026.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: We're paying out of pocket.

Information Sophia Job Postings - Early Warning about New Courses and Revisions
Posted by: Ares - 05-18-2025, 12:57 AM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, Sophia.Org, Coursera Discussion - Replies (1)

Sophia appears to use the Job Board Teamed for staff hiring. By checking this site every so often it will give us some idea what they have planned for courses.

1. They posted here in 2023 for the "Business Data Analytics" course.
2. They recently posted about their "Intro to Networking" course.

  UMPI Coursework
Posted by: chrisv - 05-17-2025, 06:48 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (3)

I've asked a few questions about UMPI, and I have one more: Is there a lot of video content for there courses, or is it primarily text based?

I'm not very good at watching videos and have a poor attention span for things that aren't reading. Is UMPI a good option for this? How about Sophia, is it pretty video heavy?

With 20 hours per week of study time, (I know there are a lot of factors that go into speed) is it realistic to get 15 credit hours completed in two terms?

  Study.com Fraud or Misrepresentation
Posted by: kakasahib - 05-17-2025, 06:22 PM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, Sophia.Org, Coursera Discussion - No Replies

I signed up for College Saver Program. I finished many of the computer science upper level courses to meet TESU and  anytime I submit the paper assignment I get respond with in 5-6 hours or sometime within an hour.  Now I submitted 3 upper courses assignment and since SDC responded quickly for 2 written assignement and they are now holding one last assignement for all my 3 open courses and I am locked. It to take any further courses. I sent them email and t their help desk responded quickly (in 3 hour) that they will get the account person to response. Now it’s almost 11 days now and I am still waiting for them to mark the last final remaining assignement for all three courses and many emails to they’ll desk and I see deaf ears. It seems like SDC is purposely doing this because all of their upper level courses have minimum of 3to 5 assignments ( depends).
Anyone has the same issue?

Does anyone know if there is any credit alternatives for GEC requirements for 'business communication', 'french or spanish 1'? I just really don't want to do a course that has me making a video of myself.

  Med Schools - Interesting Lists

I was reading a few sites on what med schools are available to in-state and out of state residents, there are a handful that accept international students as well.  Majority are for the in-state crowd or neighboring states...

I need cheap classes to boost GPA
Posted by: introsequence - 05-16-2025, 10:11 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (25)

Here's my situation:

I'm a non-traditional med school aspirant. Currently taking prerequisite classes.

I'm also in need of significant GPA repair due to a bad undergraduate record. What is the best source of very cheap, accredited, online, asynchronous classes that I can start at anytime? Preferably "easy" classes.

  I'm Back!
Posted by: colonelcamp - 05-16-2025, 03:50 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - No Replies

Hi Everyone,

I took some time off from my pursuit to focus on helping my kid get into his college of choice. Now that that's all done, so I reached out to UMPI and I'll be enrolling for Summer 2 (July 7). Can't wait!

I'll be doing the BAS with mgmt and business admin minors. I may add a political science minor as well. I got the Pierpont AAS just in time before they changed everything over there and all my Sophia ACE credits were evaluated and accepted successfully by UMPI last year. I don't think I'll be affected by the changes UMPI has made, but we'll see when I enroll in classes.

Looking forward to engaging with everyone again. Hoping you're all well!!!

Im looking into graduate studies at the University of Mary North Dakota. Those of you who have experience with this university, have any of you been eligible to do a semester or a Maymester in Rome with them as online graduate students and which degree program are you in?
