  More Coursera Courses
Posted by: Mint Berry Crunch - 11 hours ago - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Seems as though there has been an increase in ACE recommended courses for Coursera. Some of these look like they have been reevaluated/extended, but there appears to be a couple of new ones by Microsoft. I might have to give some of these a try:

https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pa...Active%22)

Microsoft 365 Fundamental: 3 credits

Microsoft AI and ML Engineering: 6 credits

Microsoft Business Analyst: 4 credits

Microsoft Public Relations and Communications Associate: 3 credits

Also, I'm not sure if I recognize any of them, but it looks like Facebook has some too -- I don't recall seeing them before, but their start date shows 10/01/2023:

Android Developer: 10 credits

Back-End Developer: 10 credits

Database Engineering: 10 credits

Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - Yesterday, 05:31 PM - Forum: Free Courses and Certificates and Good Deals - No Replies

Auburn Online from Auburn University offers a free noncredit online course From Numbers to Motion-Bridging Math Skills to Physics Readiness, math prep for a non-calculus physics survey course. Students have 365 days from enrollment to complete the course.

Quote:This is a highly interactive, self-paced, online learning experience designed to prepare you for success in your introductory physics course. Throughout this experience, you will be challenged to improve your problem-solving skills by determining the feasibility of authentic physical situations through your understanding and application of the underlying math concepts.

You will review essential concepts from geometry and algebra including graphing, solving systems of equations, and vectors in order to better understand the concepts you will be introduced to in your physics course. You will learn to recognize the similarities and differences in both terminology and methods for problem solving between math and physics.  You will also expand your ability to transfer mathematical knowledge and skills to physics applications.

Through this resource, you will learn and apply all of these concepts in a real world context.  You will take on a job role in which you would be expected to use the information you learn in a meaningful way.

NOTE: This is a dual-enrollment resource intended to be used in conjunction with the lecture and lab during the first two (2) weeks of your introductory physics course.  You will have one year (365) from the day you enroll to access this course.

EdX Information Literacy count to 15 in house credits?
Posted by: Cookbecomeingnerd - Yesterday, 12:20 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (2)

Hey there

So Im assuming it wont, but does anyone know if the EdX TESU: Information Literacy (yes I know its only works for the BACS) would count to the 15 in house credit min?  It being a TESU class offered through EdX makes me thing there might be a small chance it is.

Does anyone have info one way or another?

  Level 5 TEFL Diploma - £120
Posted by: Kalas - Yesterday, 11:11 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

TEFL Full Circle has been pushing a Level 5 Diploma (almost the equivalent of an American Associate's Degree but not quite, I think) to everyone on the mailing list for 6 payments of £19.99 for a little while. It appears to be an ongoing offer as I've been getting these emails ever since it was introduced. The "regular price" is £300 and it's on sale on the website for £250.
https://www.teflfullcircle.com/courses/p...l-diploma/

I assume starting a checkout and not paying will get you on the mailing list if the system is smart enough to know that you "shouldn't" have access to the lower price here: https://bestoffer.teflfullcircle.com/for...-uk-users/

TEFL Full Circle is accredited by ACCREDITAT, a UK accreditation outfit that specializes in TEFL/TESOL schools registered with the UKRLP. The Diploma is issued by Gatehouse Awards and Ofqual vouches for it being Level 5. TEFL Full Circle claims it is the equivalent of holding a Foundation Degree (approxx. UK equivalent of an Associate's degree?) and a CELTA. Gatehouse Awards appears to be a real TEFL/TESOL school that offers in-person and online credentials that top out at Level 5. I'm inclined to to think the Ofqual makes it at least as valid as something from an American community college but someone that knows more is welcome to chime in and possibly confirm/deny whether UKRLP overseeing an accreditation body has any real value. AFAIK this hasn't gone through whatever the process is to get ECTS tied to it, it's just the Level 5 Diploma.

For the quality of TEFL Full Circle, I did the 160 hour course a couple years ago. I did it over 2 days so my completion time was closer to 16 hours than 160. It was...fine. I already had a couple years teaching Microsoft IT and CompTIA courses so I could probably teach the classes, but I'm not sure if I would say it's enough preparation for someone with no classroom teaching experience of any kind. For the Black Friday price of 20 quid and having every other course/40 hour certificate that was available at the time as a free bonus, I really can't complain. The best training money can buy? No. Is the Diploma a good value for money? Yeah, probably.

Are Bus 210 and Com 210 not the same thing?
Posted by: cclocks8 - 09-24-2025, 12:49 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (3)

I'm to the point of enrolling for classes for the Fall 2 session and working with the "New Student Enrollment Specialist."

I did workplace communication at Sophia, which transferred in as Bus 210 organizational communication. Ny degree plan shows I need Com 210, but the course descriptions are exactly the same, and all reviews for the course have it listed as Bus 210/Com 210... Anyone know what is up with that?

Ai Research Trainer for those with a bachelor's or higher
Posted by: TINASAM - 09-24-2025, 12:16 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

New posting, $35-40 an hour, short term project, for those that have a bachelor's degree or higher.
AI Generalist

I normally wouldn't post this, but it seems very straightforward and I got on quite easily. Expecting a good payout. I know everyone here has degrees out the wazoo and could get on. It isn't scammy, as I wouldn't pass that on to this group that has helped me get the degrees I have.
