I passed my CLEP humanities!! Thanks to you guys.
Posted by: dundeemania - 01-04-2008, 11:49 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I passed my CLEP humanities!!!!

I got a 65, and I thought the Test was pretty easy. A lot of questions regarding paintings and sculptors. I have now graduated!!!

I just wanted to thank you guys. I have been on here for about two weeks and I cannot begin to explain how much Instacert has helped me. I have been lurking and found the information on here very very useful. I also need to thank Lubee for her/his study guide.

Thank you guys once again, and please let me know if anyone of you need any help with the Humanities exam.

Another bit of advice: There is no harm in studying a bit deep into the most famous works. Sparknotes would be quite useful. Look into things like Shakespeare plays, Cantebury tales and some of Beethoven's stuff. It might help and definitely not hurt.

  Help!
Posted by: carlosamador2006 - 01-04-2008, 11:44 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (5)

I am at my wits end Sad - Here is my situation I want to work in the IT field but how do you get in when everyone wants experience. I studied hard and got certified as an Oracle DBA and I have my MCDST which was more about me just wanting to understand some basics. I was able to complete my Associates (not specialized) and I want to keep moving forward with my bachelors but even with my AA and those certifications I can't get into the field - WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? I was so motivated and enthusiastic but I really just want to give up. Please any feedback would really be appreciated.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

  Additional Distance Learning courses
Posted by: skyfall123 - 01-04-2008, 10:24 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

While scouting out low cost Graduate credits, I found this distance learning program that has quite a few interesting and affordable undergraduate classes, especially in Business (International Marketing, Business Policy) and English (Shakespeare, Chaucer). Maybe this can help someone!

Took my first CLEP using IC
Posted by: Babydoll1224 - 01-03-2008, 11:13 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I just got back from taking my first CLEP using IC.

I took Principles of Management and scored a 70! I was ecstatic! Big Grin I have to say I did spend approx. 15 hours studying using IC, and I took 2 of the CLEP practice tests. I tried using the CLEP study guide for this test from my library but reading it was too boring.

This was only my 2nd CLEP I've taken I took Educational Psych on 10/31/07 and passed it with 61 only using the practice tests from Peterson.com as study guides.

I found using IC to be very helpful this time and worth the monthly fee!

Hello,

Thanks for this informative forum. You guys are great. I was just wondering if I am starting fresh should I just go by the course catalog or do I need to talk to an adviser. I plan on doing 90% of my work by testing out.

Thanks.

RE: Getting Bad Grades Removed at Excelsior
Posted by: barbara2bba - 01-03-2008, 12:37 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (13)

My fail on the DSST Algebra is going to cost me BIG. I was told by an advisor at Excelsior that the only way to remove the grade is to re-take the same exam. If I take another algebra or quantitative required course it will not count to remove the grade.

I was hoping to finish my degree requirements by the end of February but I have to wait 6 months to re-take the DSST algebra or take another test and let that sink my GPA as a failing grade. The advisor suggested that I request a waiver from DSST to take the exam sooner. Has anyone ever done that?

Sad
