Hello all,
I am 27 and I am trying to finish up my degree and I would like to knock out about 9-10 classes through CLEP...
I am going to Strayer University and I have a few general questions about the CLEP exams...
First: Does the score that I receive on the exam translate into a letter grade which affects my GPA? or is it just a pass/fail thing? or does it depend on the school?
Second: There are a few courses that I can get credit for that will accept either a CLEP test or a DANTE test, for instance Principles of Supervision (DANTE) vs. Principles of Management (CLEP), does anyone have any advise as to which tests are harder and if so how are they different?
Third: Any study advise for how long to prepare, wether to branch out into other resources, etc??? I guess it may depend on the test...
Thank You all in advance...I am very happy I found this resource and I look forward to getting started...

I have made 2 post, re: passing Sociology yesterday, and they keep disappearing...
Anyways...the post was to thank everybody for all of your support and advice...
We will see if this one actually makes it on the board
The questions on the exam were either very straight foreward, or very tricky.
You really have to read them @ least twice to understand what they are asking...
Anyways, a big thank you to Instacert, the flash cards were the bomb!!!
Thanks again to everybody for all of your help and support.
Barbara

-Gandhi was a leader of which century?
-central teaching of the upanishads
-text which Hindus view as canonical (vedas)
-know all of the significant cities associated with life of Buddha
-term "sangha" means what?
-bodhisativa is what?
-scholars debate whether Confucianism is what?
-the temple in Jerusalem was first built by whom?
-year that Israel was established
-The three ideas of Judaism
-Moses received the decalogue where?
-Judaism, Christianity and Islam all recognize a common ancestor, who is this?
-"torah" refers to what?
-the two gospels where the birth of Jesus are found
-what is the chief cause of the Lutheran reformation?
-country with the largest number of Muslims
-pillars of Islam
-best example of scared space in Islam, is what?
-most important act that occurs in the mosque
-translation of "shari' a"
-best translation of arabic word Islam, is what?
-the belief in one god while recognizing the existence of many others is...(Henotheism)
-second vatican council brought about what?
-cosmogonic myth is about what?
-a "trickster" in Native N. American mythology refers to what?
-know what written materials were considered important to Gandhi
-what is bhakti?

There were more questions on the Muslim faith than I expected; it's worth a thorough review....hope this helps. Good luck to all!

A couple of weeks ago I took Clep Prin. of Management and passed by poaching information from this site and just studying the online Cliffs notes. It was enough to pass (68) but I was still skeptical of paying the $20 for a membership to IC for my Marketing CLEP, mainly because I'm a cheap bastard and wasn't entirely convinced. However, I finally relented and paid the dough....BEST MONEY EVER SPENT!
Last night I took the Clep Marketing exam and passed with a 71! I can confidently say that IC alone is enough to pass this test comfortably. Almost everything that was on the test was covered by IC and most of everything else could be reasoned out if you understand the concepts. 2 weeks of studying IC religiously was more than enough and $20 is much better than paying hundreds of dollars for classes at my local community college.
I can say now that I am a true believer in the InstantCert concept and I'm thinking of taking the Business Law CLEP. I just don't know if I can handle another subject in addition to taking Accounting I and Algebra at my Community College and juggling a full time job and family. Oh well, maybe I'll just passively review the business law material on IC during down times at my work and if I feel comfortable with the information I'll take the test.
I would like thank the IC community for posting their stories of success to inspire me, and would also like to thank Joel66 for providing me with the CLEP practice test for marketing, it was most beneficial.
