I have off work tomorrow and have decided to go and take a clep/dante test. My only problem is I don't know which one I should take. I am looking for that I can pass with 4-6hrs total study time.

Also for a test that doesn't have paragraph long questions and answers, something along the lines of a question that is a sentence long and a short sentence answer. I have taken several tests already which are listed in my sig...

The test is free since I am military so price isn't an issue.

If anyone has any tips or advice that would be great, I will be studying tonight and tomorrow before the test.

Okay - I am taking Principles of Supervision. This will be my first test...
I started studying about a week ago. I have gone through the flash cards about 3 -4 times and I took the practice DANTE exam in the DANTE study guide and I am answering 70-80 percent correctly...

Am I ready???...thinking about going for it on Saturday...

Help with My First DSST test!
Posted by: kira - 02-06-2008, 11:31 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I'm going to take my first DSST test tomorrow on World Religions. I've been studying the "Complete Idiots..." and InstaCert flashcards. I'm having major test anxiety. How hard is this test? Any advice on what I should focus on? Also, the University I will be attending requires a 50 on the test. I don't undersand this scoring. What does 50 mean? It sounds like a 50% but I know that isn't correct. Help!!!

CLEP - Pre 1877 US History
Posted by: akuacelia - 02-06-2008, 05:09 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello,
I am very new to this. So far I am impressed by the amount of studying I have been able to get done in just 4 days. Does anyone out there have any extra tips? What can I do besides going through the database of questions and reading my text to maximize my time and score? I plan to test at the end of February. Is that unrealistic?
Thanks.

  ECE Human Resource Management
Posted by: barcotta - 02-06-2008, 01:52 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

I passed the Human Resource Management test yesterday and I scored a “B.” I was hoping for an A but I didn’t purchase either of the two textbooks recommended by Excelsior (and they recommend that students use BOTH) and there were some holes in the study material I used which, I believe, may have been the difference between a B and an A. I also only spent three weeks preparing—as opposed to the 140 hours recommended by Excelsior. Seems a little steep…

I posted feedback with regard to the test itself in the Specific Exam Feedback section along with some study materials I created and a link to the scoresheet I received for anyone who may be interested.

This test ends my quest for “magna cum laude” almost as soon as it began. I have some old C’s in things like Calculus that I don’t exactly want to revisit, so I needed all A’s on my last three graded exams—plus I would have to replace an old C in Business Law with a CLEP—to achieve magna cum laude. I wasn’t even paying attention to my grades at all until the last couple of tests when I figured out my GPA and saw that I was within striking range. Nonetheless, I’ll be happy with a naked “cum laude.” In some ways, it takes the pressure off so I can move faster. I just have to make sure I score above C on the last three. God-willing, I’ll be able to do at least that!

As you can see in my signature, 108 down, 12 to go! Next up: ECE Organizational Behavior while working on CSU-Pueblo Operations Management.

  Practice Tests

Does anyone know where I can get some practice tests for Intro to World Religions. I can't seem to feel good about the material and would feel better about taking the exam after doing well on a couple of practice tests. I took the test under the fact sheet on the DSST site and out of 12 got 6 right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New Instantcert Flash Cards- Which Subjects?
Posted by: ImustStudy - 02-05-2008, 10:26 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (16)

All,

I am curious to know which courses you would like to see that are not currently included on the InstantCert flashcards.

InstantCert, are there any new classes on the horizon? Big Grin

I think this is the greatest service ever and would love to see it expanded to include all CLEP and DSST topics as well as possibly GRE.

Human Resource Management - Dantes (DSST)

Completed this exam today with a score of 63. The passing score needed was 46.

The material I used to complete this coure was Instantcert (went through questions twice), the Rudman book "Personnel/Human Resource Management" (went through once), and the "dsst Official Test Preparation Guide" (went through twice).

Some questions in Rudman seem a little date, but it did help. Instantcert and the "dsst Official Test Preparation Guide" probably help the most. I did look over the book "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Human Resource Management", but thought it a little too simple and did not more than glance at the book. It would probably be help for someone to read first if they had the time and did not know anything about Human Resources Management from experience in life.

Study the laws and acts for the exam. Know terms. Know things like Job Analysis, Job Evaluation and Job Speculation. A few OSHA questions.

  Criminal Justice DANTES feedback
Posted by: hopefulgrad - 02-05-2008, 06:09 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

OK, I just took the Criminal Justice DANTES test this afternoon and here was my impression. I studied very hard for about 3 days. My studying consisted of writing down terms I wasn't familiar with, reading cliffs notes, going through IC flashcards several times and....I failed by 2 measly points!

The flashcards were helpful but, there weren't as many questions on the test from the flashcards as I anticipated. I was very disappointed. I only need to pass one more test to graduate. I'm going to try Intro to Law Enforcement because I've heard they're related. I'll try again next week.

Anyone have any insight on Intro to Law Enforcement?
