New Forum for "PUG and other Global Universities"
Posted by: Ares - 11-30-2024, 12:15 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (14)

I see enough talk about Global Campuses here that it would be nice to have a forum specifically for schools like PUG. There are multiple plans on the Wiki already.

Purdue's name is really driving the school's popularity which in 2022 was already at over 45,000 enrolled. I have even recommended it to some people who wanted a well known name but still wanted to save money transferring credits.

Call the forum; "PUG and other Global Universities" ...or something similar.

France Business School - Online DBA
Posted by: doyouhowdo1 - 11-29-2024, 11:23 AM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - No Replies

Hello Everyone,

I almost finish my MBA now. Yay.

I have already posted a few thread about online DBA before. This time, I came across two university that is offer by a Chinese agent at Little Red Book app. The agent told me that both offer DBA and Brest Business School is better. But I couldn't find much information about these two business school.

Brest Business School
https://international.brest-bs.com/

ESC Amiens
https://www.esc-amiens.com/

Although both school seem to be legit. But when I look at Brest Business School Wiki's page,  it stated that it is a "A school authorised to deliver master's degrees". Then if I take the DBA at Brest Business School, I guess it won't be fully regonize. Funny thing tho, on the English and French website, they didn't show there is doctorate degree. While in the Chinese version, it says they offer the doctorate degree.

On the other hand, ESC Amiens offical website show they offer doctorate degree. But I'm just not sure how regonize is this.

Exclamation Rowan University in talks to acquire TESU
Posted by: Ares - 11-29-2024, 07:28 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (4)

University Senate meeting raises concerns about Rowan Global programs

Quote:The topic of partnering with other universities was brought up, which was one of the items on the agenda. Thomas Edison State University is located in Trenton, NJ, and there have been conversations with the administration about potentially acquiring them.

Houshmand did not confirm nor deny that this was in the works.

I think this is a bad idea, any merger with a larger NJ University would surely eliminate things like the 114 credit transfer option and other things that makes TESU attractive for degree hacking.

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing great. ? I'm currently working on the final assessment for my Market Research & Analysis course (BUS 261), and I need your help with a super short survey. It should only take about 3 minutes of your time.

https://shout.com/s/LptSK8bd

I'd really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill it out. Your input is super valuable and will make a big difference. Thanks a ton in advance!

Cheers,

Can Sophia's Calculus be used for MAT 140 Mathematics for Business?
Posted by: AccountingForThis - 11-28-2024, 03:25 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (8)

Hello everyone!

I recently noticed that UMPI's webpage for the BABA Project Management & Information Systems says that MAT 131 Calculus can be taken in place of MAT 140 Mathematics for Business. According to UMPI's official transfer equivalency database, Sophia's Calculus course should transfer in as MAT 131 Calculus. However, the degree plans that I have seen for this major include Study.com's Business 110: Business Math instead. Has anyone been able to successfully use Sophia's Calculus course to meet the MAT 140 Mathematics for Business requirement for the BABA Project Management & Information Systems?

Thank you!

anyone currently taking Ph.D. in IT at The University of the Cumberlands?
Posted by: HoustonGuy - 11-28-2024, 02:02 PM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (3)

I'm starting a Ph.D. in Information Technology with an emphasis in Artificial Intelligence at The University of the Cumberlands this January.  Is anyone else currently in this program?  It seems somewhat affordable (compared to other programs) and regionally accredited.

  ACLAS: Is this even legal?
Posted by: asianphd - 11-28-2024, 01:52 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (130)

Has anyone had experience with or knowledge about the Atlanta College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (ACLAS)? I've found some concerning information I want to share:

Key points about this institution:

  • Claims to be based in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Offers online MBA, MCS, and DBA programs
  • Only has CPD (Continuing Professional Development) recognition, NO formal academic accreditation
  • Currently appears on the Georgia Nonpublic Education Commission (GNPEC) consumer alerts page
I'm curious about two things:
  1. What's the business model here - how do they sustain operations without accreditation?
  2. Are there any regulatory/legal implications for operating this way in Georgia?
If anyone has insights about similar institutions or relevant regulations in Georgia, I'd appreciate learning more.

ASU Universal Learner Math Weekly Courses Now NON-PROCTORED !
Posted by: Captainrekt000 - 11-27-2024, 07:05 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (16)

Update: Weekly versions of courses are now non-proctored, on-demand versions of the courses proctored. See the most recent information towards the bottom of this thread.

I've been procrastinating College Algebra, Precalc, Calc I from ASU because of the proctored midterm and final exams.

I took a look at the syllabi for these courses and found out that the courses were recently updated to non-proctored exams!

https://ea.asu.edu/courses/

I already took these courses on Sophia but I'd rather have RA graded credits for future grad school applications (MAT142 - College Mathematic is still proctored)

The following math courses are now non-proctored!! They are self paced and enroll anytime. Can be finished as fast as possible. You pay $25 to start. Then pay $400 to get it transcripted. So $142/credit total for a 3 credit course or $107/credit for a 4 credit course.  If you get a B (89.49%) or lower, you can unenroll, pay $25 again, and redo the entire course without getting a W on your transcript.

IF finished before 6 weeks, one must wait a total of 6 weeks from the start date to pay $400 to transcript it. I was able to finish college algebra and precalc in just a few days and have to wait another 5-6 weeks before transcripting. I'm working on Business calc now!
