Second Bachelors degree- Excelsior
#11
I have to agree with Terry... You're going to want an RA school.

Until National Accreditation comes into its own, many places won't accept degrees from NA schools... Many will. But can you afford to be in a position where the time and effort spent on a degree might be for naught in the eyes of an employer (or other school) due to its accrediation?

I have heard decent things about Aspen, but personally, I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on an NA degree until their acceptance grows a lot stronger than it is now.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Why don't you enroll for a Bachelors and take master level classes that way your employer might pay more of your degree? then even if you dont finish the bachelors you continue the masters you started

I believe the issue for Peace123 is that his employer will pay (partially) for two courses per year regardless of whether they are at the Bachelors or Masters level. The courses must be RA. They will also pay for an unlimied # of CLEPs; DSSTs; EC; and TESC's. Unfortunately none of these exams offer masters level credit. (Correct me here if I'm wrong, Peace.)

Thank you all for your replies to my post.

I am still not sure on what I am going to do, but for the time being I just signed up to take a course through VESI Morningside College Continuing Education for Teachers - Distance Learning for Teachers - Professional Development for Teachers. I want to see how it goes, if I like their format I may complete 12 Vesi credits through Morningside College and then transfer them to Amberton. I am again revisiting the idea of a Masters in Prof. Dev. from Amberton.

So far this route is the cheapest way I have found to obtain an RA Masters degree.

VESI 4 course $230 per course =920
8 course at Amberton x $700 = 5600
plus books, etc..

Does anyone know of any RA Masters that is cheaper to complete ?

Ok, I just figured out WMNU may be cheaper. Virtual Campus - Online Programs

They will accept 6 transfer credits. So if I do 6 VESI credits the costs are:

Vesi- $460
30 credits at WMNU @the cost of $887 for 6 credits is =$4435

Total $4895 plus books and fees.

WNMU is a great package. The cost (as long as you keep to 2 classes per semester, but more than that is suicide if you're working anyway) is great for distance learners, they're an RA school, you can get federal aid/loans, and I kinda dig the school colors.. Hehe.

For a little bit more ($40 or so per credit hour, may have gone up) you also have New Mexico State University as well. (Same terms though, more than 2 classes/6 credits at a time and the cost skyrockets, except for the summer sessions.)

The only bad things I've heard about WNMU from students is that the exit requirements once you take all of your classes for the different disciplines are very nebulous. Sometimes even the school doesn't know what it wants for an exit requirement. They need to get that fixed and tightened up (if they haven't done so already.)

Morningside College M.A in Teaching, very fun, I like the program a lot. $170 x credit 36 credit total however 18 credits can come from VESI classes (230 x 3 credit grad class, 18 grade credits needed = 1380)

$170 x 18 = 3060 (Morningside Classes) + 6 VESI classes = 1380

Grand total = $4440 RA masters in Teaching

Does this program require a teaching license/certification in order to be admitted?
