I was recently accepted at an international development project.
I tolld the director I wanted to do a Masters. I'm still working on my BSc.
at Excelsior. She is of the opinion a Masters is expensive and should
be pursued when a personal wants to speciialize for a job. For example
working at an embassy would likely require a Masters. I plan to
travel and teach English. I have certificates in Horticulture, Insurance
Emergency Managment, a TESOL diploma, Peacekeeping and Machining.
I'm including them in my Excelsior Liberal Arts BSc. I feel a Masters
Is beyond my ability and too expensive but would someday like to pursue it

At least in Europe, you don't need a masters degree in order to teach English. Having teaching experience and business experience is important, though. If you don't have either, do what you have to do to get it, and in the case of teaching experience that usually means teaching for chain schools like Berlitz that pay peanuts.

I know one of my neighbors has been teaching here in Saudi Arabia at the female's college. They do not have a degree, only a certificate in buisness and has recently completed her Canadian teaching certificate(don't know the speciifcs) for a raise, but i wasn't required. On the other hand, I have 2 other neighbors with degrees that treach at a different university and they are both degreed. And another neighbor with her doctorate that is teaching at the equivelant of a high school. I have also been told by other Expats in other countries that the degree thing is variable, dependent on their specific situation.
So I guess what I am saying, it is probably completely dependent on the institution and the country you would want to teach in and at what level you want to instruct.
Guess this didn't help much, lol.

all around asia if you want to be an ESL teacher you just need a degree, sometimes you can get around not having a degree also. As well it doesn't need to have a Major in English or anything like that.
Most of these jobs are pretty good but not amazing. You can live a comfortable life on the money you make, and definitely save if you're careful. Keep in mind the huge start up costs when you go overseas...I wouldn't start a new life in a new country without AT LEAST 5K USD of backup in my bank account (not including the flight/hotel/hostel fees when you arrive). It's amazing how quickly you can spend your money when you go overseas, especially at first.
If you want to get a better job though, a Masters is definitely to your advantage, but if you're not so sure about your degree yet, why not go somewhere, start as an ESL teacher or whatever you find, and maybe after working you'll have a better picture of what career you want, you can always do you Master's later.
