Do you think there is any chance of the HIS-221 European History fulfilling the Diversity slot? I see on TESU's course page that they accept HIS-210 and 261 for that slot. Sociology just doesn't appeal to me. I'd much rather take another History course.

Ah...no one mentioned that. I don't check all of the course providers every day. :-P

I think we're at a point with Shmoop where we don't know what the math courses will transfer in as yet - they haven't been evaluated by TESU. But, if anyone wants to ask TESU to do that, they might do it fairly quickly.

In looking at the courses, even though they say "college", most look like high school courses to me - just by the names, and the fact that they match up to what is taught in our local HS's - Algebra I & II, Geometry, Precalc, and then the Mathematics I, II, & III that high schools are switching to now for common core, called Integrated Math here and replacing the AI, G, AII, Precalc sequence.

I took Finite Math in college as a precursor to Stats (and boy I wish I'd just gone straight to stats after taking it), TESU brought it in as MAT-110.

Interesting to note:
Pre-algebra I and Pre-algebra II must both be taken to get 3cr in it, but TESU will not accept these as they will be considered developmental
Algebra I and Algebra II must both be taken to get 3cr in it
Geometry is UL but only 2cr
Math I, II, & III are all 2cr

I was sick this morning and must have missed this - I think because I came in where everyone was talking about how to take the courses, and I didn't go far enough back.

As soon as someone gets these pre-approved by TESU, please let us know what they come in as.

And wouldn't it be nice if someone from Shmoop would come on here like the Study.com person does often now, so we can ask them to get these evaluated by TESU?? It's ever so helpful when someone else does the work for us!

Does anyone know, are these assessments by exam/quizzes only or is there coursework required as well?

These classes are based on chapter exams. (They call them unit exams). These account for 81.5% of the grade. Then the final is 18.5% of your grade. Not sure if all classes are broken up into 12 units, but the one class I'm currently in, U.S. History 1492-1877 is.

Currently I'm through 4 units and I've spent about 6 hours in the class.

Hey Guys, at Ed4Credit all current courses are done by exams. We have some new ones coming like English Comp that will require assignments too.

Yes, and you have some interesting courses. But at $195 each your some multiplier (2,3,4 times or more) higher than the Shmoop....in fact when this discussion started folks could complete a Shmoop for less then $30/3 credits.

At $195 your only $100 of a CC in Florida, and the CC course is infinitely more transferable.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Yes, our new pricing puts us at $65 per credit hour and about $58 after the coupon. Maybe not as cheap but we do have different courses than Shmoop. Thanks. Smile
