please help me with IC -Biology
#1
I am going to clep Biology on June 28th. I use REA, Biology Smart, Cliff Notes, official CLEP test, 2Peterson test( I took one last week and only made 41, which I was not surprised since I didn't study very well. So I am going to take the second test this weekend).
Now I am a member of IC, and I found the feedback is very helpful resource toward to this test. However, IC Biology seems like a lot to take in . I don't know if I have time to go over those 800 question even once.
So for those who have used Ic Biology, does it really help? Or I can just concentrate on the study resource I listed above?

Thank you so much.

The IC-Flashcards are an incredible, sometimes stand alone study resource, however CLEP BIO is one of those exams that really require a few (several) study sources. Good Luck!

Study Time: How I Did It…

Pre-Study-Prep: Obtain or set up whatever materials I will need to study (IC Flashcards, REA Books, Standard Deviants Videos, Pass-Your-Class Guides, and Petersons Practice Exams.

Week One: Begin to read books, review flashcards, watch videos. Call your test center and make an appointment in advance as they sometimes require a few weeks advance notice)

Week Two: Re-read books, review flashcards, watch videos Take 1-2 practice exams

Week Three: Continue to review all materials, take additional/final practice exams. You should be passing these with room to spare. Take real exam at end of the week and PASS.

Note you should have at this point already acquired pre-study-prep materials for your next exam so as not to waste time.

Something Else To Know

FACT: The lowest possible score is a 20. The hight possible is an 80.

FACT: Approx. 1/2 the questions on the test must be successfully answered to get a 50, or a pass.

THE HYPOTHESIS: In a 100 question test, such as Sociology and many others, there are only 60 possible points (between 20-80) for 100 questions.

60 points divided by 100 questions = .6pts

If each questions is worth .6 points, 50 correct questions = 50q X .6pts = 30pts

You must add 20 since 0 correct questions = 20pts.

30 points + 20 points = 50 points, or a pass.

Now:If each point in a 100 question test is worth .6 points, 100 questions X .6 points = 60; 60 + 20 = 80.

By this formula, answering 75 questions correctly would translate to a score of 65.

Read every page of REA and Cliffs and you should be good. That's what I did. If you can get your hands on Standard Deviants Biology DVD, all the better.

Thanks.

It is about 2 hours long. I watched it 3 times. It does a very good job of presenting information about cell biology, which is about 1/3 of the test. The repetition and stressing of important information made a big difference and as I read my books I felt like I already knew much of it and had a better mental picture of the systems and processes involved. I scored a 70 btw.

Thank you, Protester. Your information is really helpful to me. I just download the DVD and I will watch it at least twice.
