originalamyj Journey to BA in English from TESU

I don't think the A&I CLEP would be hard for someone who can do UL Lit at Shmoop.

I plan to get a loan for the Capstone (and 1-2 CS courses), to spread out the financial cost.
I registered for the TECEP because I thought I needed it to be enrolled without realizing I’d be close enough the get enrolled via the capstone. So it’s paid for now and I’ll just do it. I would have preferred to take the new Short stories course from study!

You’re probably right about A&I. I’ve been teaching lit to high schoolers for 6 years it’s probably totally doable. I’m a nervous test taker.

Might have to do a small loan too.

Have you tried some practice A&I questions? I think it is less scary when you see the level. I would definitely do that before American Lit.

Moving right along, I have completed Holocaust Lit and the Technical Writing TECEP.

I am THIS CLOSE! But alas, I don't have the funds for the next steps. I need to take non-Western Lit, so that will be $600 if I do the cheapest one I can find. I also need to do the Capstone and would love to register for it for June to take advantage of the discount, but I doubt I'll be able to. Sad I'm busy throwing money at lots of other expensive life stuff right now.

I will go ahead and start working on studying for the American Lit and A&I CLEPs and knock those out. Maybe a miracle will happen and the money tree will sprout finally this Spring!

The discount is so steep that it might be worth borrowing to get, especially if you can get the residency waiver in there, too. However, only you know whether that's reasonable in your situation.

Wellllllll.

Just for Big Grin I thought, what if I'm closer than I think to a BALS? I saw the pic of the diploma and they all say Bachelor of Arts. I'm not actually doing this for a career move anyway. I am not about to enter the workforce. I'm a mom, 2 kids that will launch in the next 5 years, and caregiver to my 87 year old mother in law. I can't go to work. I can do online jobs, so a degree will help me check the box, but any degree will do that.

Turns out I have only ONE class to take plus the Capstone. I'm super excited! I still took all the english classes, so that has made the journey fun and interesting. And I will likely still write my Capstone on something related to literature. I have a ton of ideas.

Still thinking about it....

Isn't there a Lit specialization for the BALS?

No, Humanities is the closest thing. Which lit classes fit into that. I'm not really sure there's much point since it's still Liberal Studies. I'm just so excited to be so close.

It still doesn't fix the financial dilemma of not have the funds for the Capstone or the Residency Waiver.  Dodgy

Check with Study.com customer service and ask if their Non-Western Literature is slated for approval anytime soon. It recently got a course number: https://study.com/academy/course/english...ature.html

AWESOME! I would keep my English major if that gets approved soon! And frankly since I am kind of stuck waiting for the money tree to sprout, I can afford to wait to see what happens with this course. I emailed them and will report back. Thanks for letting me know about it!
