my unofficial transcript - your profound wisdom

(10-04-2021, 01:50 AM)rachel83az Wrote: I think that there may have been some mix-up regarding TEEX. There are Cybersecurity courses that don't cost anything - those only come in as free electives for most degrees. The Death Investigation course costs $75 and comes in as an upper level AOJ course. AOJ is a valid Liberal Arts category, meaning that it will fit in your degree plan.

bjcheung77 brings up a valid point; you might want to consider a 16 credit term at TESU. For this, you would need: capstone, cornerstone, PLA-100 and 3 other courses. There are some "can't fail" courses listed here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Th...University

For you, one option would be:
American Government (POS-110) ePack - Single exam that's worth residency credits. Might want to pre-study for this one.
COM-339 The Story of Human Language - Looks like a relatively easy UL course
LIB-320 The Music of War & Peace OR maybe CIS-351 Software Engineering (no programming required; assignments are Word documents or something along those lines); CIS is a BALS category.

Or only do one UL course at TESU and instead do their ETH-230 Ethics in the Digital Age. But the Ethics course actually looks like it has more work/assignments than the UL courses suggested above.
Great info.  Thank you so much Rachel.  Your TEEX explanation makes sense.  I wonder if dfrecore would concur, as I believe she does some degree planning for work.
I think I can still get away with doing all remaining courses via study.com (or the likes), with only corner/capstone to be taken at TESU.

You've got this Cheap, Easy, Fast - you need to email TESU and ask the following:
1) Ask if TESU still accepts TEEX Death Investigation as UL AOJ 340 Criminalistics
This is the cheapest UL AOS in AOJ/CJ, it's just $75 and non-proctored, make sure to use a second monitor to multi-task
If you need some LL AOS or general education or free electives, you can do the Property Tech or Fingerprint Comparison.
TEEX Wiki: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/TEEX

2) Ask if TESU still accepts Davar Academy courses and their equivalents
Davar "business membership" is $99/2 courses, plus $15/exam, $129 gets you 6 credits vs $200 at Study.com
They're straightforward as you just study the Materials & Powerpoint presentations, skip the recommended textbooks.
If these all come in as intended, your entire Area of Study is complete, if not, you've got the LL completed
Link: https://www.davaracademy.com/business.html

CIS 315 = CIS 301 Management Info Systems (should remain the same)
MAN 310 = MAN 311 Organizational Behavior (should remain the same)
MAN 390 = MAN 373 Managerial Communications (may have downgraded to LL)
PHI 370 = PHI 384 Business Ethics (may have downgraded to LL)

3) Attach your academic evaluation, both your BALS and BSBA as I asked for in the thread. You may have details in the "other" courses field and also in your "notes", so copy/paste or do a screenshot/pdf of the whole thing but your personal details, start from the top program credits, all the way to the end. The info in here are very helpful and paint the best picture of where you stand and courses you've taken. We can recommend courses you're more familiar with...

Awesome! Thank you bj.
I just spoke with an admissions guy at TESU. He said I need another academic eval. However, he doesn't think much will have changed. I can't access my last academic eval via the student portal as it states I'm inactive. However, I did paste a plethora of screenshots when I last received it (page 3, post #25 of this thread). I'm sorry there are so many screenshots.
In the hopes of possibly helping others, he said the cornerstone is no longer required, and that it's been replaced with Critical Information Literacy (3cr). He further stated I would only need to take this and the capstone via TESU.
I was also quoted $3192 for the non-resident waiver. Does this sound right? For some reason, I thought it was more.
He said I should reapply in order to receive an updated academic eval.... again.

SOS-110 IS the cornerstone. Maybe TESU doesn't call it that anymore, but that's what it is.

And, yes, the waiver itself is $3192. But then you also have to add $3114 for the 6 credits of the capstone/cornerstone.

Or you can do a 16 credit term for $4639 and skip the waiver entirely, saving approximately $1700. It's up to you whether you want to prioritize "ease" or "cost".

You need to decide if you want to take 16 credits at TESU vs taking the residency waiver fee. My suggestion is that you do the 16 residency credits. You save the $ for use towards a second piece of paper later, be it a Bachelors or Masters... If you're close to a BSBA, that extra $ can pay for the BSBA Capstone course and you can just graduate both together...

I'm fine with the 16cr term thing...but getting a BALS when you really want a BSBA is silly to me.

If you REALLY want a BSBA, get that.  It's a much more useful degree than the BALS.  If you don't care, and just want the fastest, then get a BALS, and skip the BSBA entirely.  Why get bogged down in another bachelor's degree.  Instead, consider an MBA, or MSLA or MSOL or whatever.  But don't get a BSBA if you get a BALS.  Waste of time and money.

Perhaps I can opt for a minor, or emphasis in, vs an additional BA/BS prior to an MBA.

You are all spot on with weighing the pros/cons of ease vs cost. I know nothing with regard to TESU residency credits. However, I would think I have to go according to when the chosen classes are offered, which in turn, would seemingly obligate me to TESU protocol vs self study. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Does anyone see anything wrong with me reapplying now to TESU in order to obtain yet another AE?

I think applying again would be a good idea, yes. But you'll also "need" to pay another $50 for the Medical Terminology TECEP so that you become a fully enrolled student with an unlimited number of evaluations. You don't have to take the exam. Just pay for it.

Thank you Rachel. What's this Medical Terminology TECEP you speak of? I've never heard of paying for this in return for unlimited evaluations.

TECEPs are exams that are administered by TESU and proctored by ProctorU (ProctorU is changing its name, but that is beside the point here). They cost $50/credit for LL exams and $75 per credit for UL exams. If you pay for any TECEP exam within one year of applying, you go from applicant to fully enrolled student. It is not necessary for you to actually take the exam, though you may choose to do so. The Medical Terminology exam happens to be the only exam that is only one credit. This makes it the cheapest way to become a fully enrolled TESU student.

Full enrollment status lasts for 12 months past the last TECEP or class that was paid for. If you haven't finished your degree after 11 months, pay for the TECEP again and remain enrolled.

While enrolled, you get unlimited TESU evaluations, access to EBSCOhost and Proquest, as well as access to certain resources at the NJ State Library. Depending on what degree you are pursuing, these resources can be immensely useful and worth more than $50 per year in and of themselves.
