I was reading on free-clep-prep and the author always mentions how certain exams have a lot of overlap, or would be fairly easy to take together.
Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing, maybe if you get credit for one CLEP/DSST test they won't allow you to do another?
examples:
DSST Principles of Supervision
CLEP Management
CLEP Marketing
DSST Introduction to Business
(even though it's 4 tests, these seem to have a reputation of being quite easy and I assume a lot of material is similar, with the exception of marketing)
DSST Introduction to Computing
CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications
DSST Management Information Systems
(computer science was my major previously, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard to prepare for these)
the last group of tests aren't so related, but I think wouldn't be so hard...
CLEP College Math (i'm gonna be doing this after completing ALEKS)
CLEP English Composition w/o Essay (I'm an English teacher who marks essays quite often)
CLEP French (fluent french speaker, it's like cheating)

There are quite a few instances of this. It depends on the school, but sometimes you can get away with two exams that seem like the same credit -
For example, the Principles of Management CLEP and Principles of Supervision DSST cover the same thing, but often times you'll be able to take both of them and one will go towards elective credit.
This can also work against you. For example, I took the English Comp w/ essay, the Freshman Composition CLEP and then Excelsior College Exam for English Comp (I was bored). Obviously, only one of those counted.
It all boils down to the school. Anytime you even think there may be a conflict with credits not counting, check with your advisor and get the answer in writing.

This depends on the school. Here is a recent thread that compares the policies at the Big 3:

I know that it was really helpful to be able to study for them as a group and get credit for all of them through EC.
Edit to add: Also, make sure there is no duplication with your previous coursework.

My advisor told me that I wouldn't get credit for all three computer exams, so I only took MIS and Intro to Computing. Lots of overlap, but do take Intro first. I only studied for MIS and since I did well on MIS, decided to take Intro to Computers afterwards totally cold. I did pass, but wished that I had at least looked at the flashcards.
I took Principles of Management and thought that there was a lot of overlap with that and Organizational Behavior. If you could use three extra credits, I highly recommend taking OB along with Mgmt. You could easily study for both at once.
Maybe Marketing overlaps with Intro to business? I'm not sure yet.. I plan on taking that one and Principles of Supervision soon to try to take advantage of what I already know.

Princ of Supervision overlaps with Management and Org Behavior. If you have ones down the should come quite easy.

You may not think it looking at the titles but, I passed these 4 exams in a 2 week period. There was lots of overlapping material and when I took the final one, Ethics in America, I scored a 473 with a total of 4 hours studying the instacert flash cards.
DSST - Intro to World Religions
CLEP - Western Civilization II
DSST - Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
DSST - Ethics in America
