#1
Hi all,

I am a new member and was wondering how the information systems and computer applications exam was? Did this website help you a lot or did you have to use other material as well? I am not as experienced with computers so could use any advice anyone gives me. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, the IC flashcards are great for this CLEP exam. I used all 3 sets (CLEP and 2 DSSTs) of computing flashcards to prepare for this exam.

I posted feedback on all of the resources I used here (scroll down past College Math CLEP):

Note: My school awards credit for all 3 computing exams.
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

I passed it despite not really understanding it. The key, in my opinion, is to try to find the right answer, even if you don't know what it is. Sometimes picking the one that just sounds right is best! hilarious

I found that the exam wasn't that bad, although the material was quite dated. They asked about things like floppy disks and Token Ring networks. I knew a good deal of old style computing terms and was OK. The Peterson's tests accessed through freeclepprep.com were reasonably helpful.

Hey so I passed with a 60!! I can't believe I did so well considering I'm not really a computer pro. I did use other supplemental resources...lots of them and did practice tests. I also crammed a lot of information the night before and the day off...right before my exam. Good luck to all those who are taking it in the future!

I did ok on that exam too without much prep it seemed like a lot of it was common sense if you work with computers. I have never taken any computer courses, I am all self taught, I get alot of the info from just listening to my 20 something sons and there friends talk to my husband my husband.
They have taken it away now , but the easiest computer testing credits was the old TECEP Word Processing Fundamentals, I took that in 2007 and they were still talking about the difference between 5" and 31/2" floppies. That was the one exam that being "over forty and Fab" came in handy.
