Hi, I have taken the exam online today via Prometric Holdings and only a few questions related to the study guide here on Instant Cert.
There is a serious flaw between the exam questions and the 300 study guide questions.
There were theories and people on questions that were not covered.
Has there been an update on the exam?
I feel cheated out of an exam that i cannot retake for 12 weeks!
Please advise.

what went wrong is that you probably didn't check the dsst site

No I read that on the DSST site.
The real question is: Why does InstantCert use an outdated study guide?? My assumption was as I was paying for access to the study guide, it was the updated version.
If InstantCerts guide is known to be outdated why is the online guide not flagged?? I have paid for an outdated guide.

InstantCert doesn't update its flashcard sets often. They should probably work on that as well as add flashcards for TECEPs, but they've shown no interest in that.
For future reference, you can tell how old a flashcard set is by looking at the first year IC started receiving reports of test scores. If it says that XXX people have submitted scores since 2009, then the flashcard is likely from 2009. Updated flashcard sets are listed on the side somewhere.

I agree, it should be clear that the flashcards are from XX date, and the test has been updated on XX date, so that it's clear what you're working with. A bunch of CLEP and DSST exams were updated in the past couple of years, so it's going to be an issue with many exams.
Another issue with DSST exams is that they themselves don't have materials to study for many of the tests! Seriously, only 20 out of 36 exams has a practice test you can take, and only 24 out of 36 is covered in their exam books. The tests were changed on June 8 of this year, but V2 isn't even going to be out until March of 2018. So they are seriously lacking in a lot of ways there.

I completely agree. I believe content is content- I mean you can learn about something using any resource under the sun. BUT, for exam prep, you want to be sure you're zeroed in on the important parts and at the right distribution. (example- if a topic makes up 6% of the questions vs 26% of the questions- you need to know that WAY in advance!!)

Sorry to hear that you failed the Counseling exam! We do not automatically update every course as it is updated by DSST because our materials are not designed to teach you the test; they are built around the idea of teaching the fundamentals of the subject using the recommended textbooks. What this means is, quite often, even when a new version of a test is released, our materials are still very relevant and get good results. The only time we dramatically rework a subject is when the content outline changes significantly and they switch to using different recommended textbooks for developing the exam.
In this case, however, looking at the last 10 customer-reported results for that subject, 4 out of 10 were failing scores, so we clearly do need to improve the flashcards for Counseling and I have forwarded them to a developer for revision.
I have also responded to your email to further discuss your case, so please take a look at that.
Thank you.
