duel enrollment gi bill
#1
I'm in the process of starting duel enrollment at wmu, is it possible for me to be getting a degree at amu, and take classes not on the degree program at wmu... I'm wanting to finish rotc but amu has no military science minor for me to transfer the credits into...
I want to go to amu in order to clep out I would only need 10 dtts and cleps and 4 regular classes to get a degree. But I want to still take rotc in order to get commissioned ... I want to use my gi bill 2 pay so I get bah,.... if I can't is it possible to have the national guard TA to pay for it? And take 1 degree class at wmu to get bah?
I know its a lot to take in but I'm at a crossroads.

You can use the GI Bill at two schools, as long as the primary (parent, one you will get a degree from) will accept the credits towards your degree.

My parent school is EC, I take 1 class per semester at UMUC on base (always electives), I get full UMUC BAH.

I already said its not part of the degree , since they don't offer it, I just want to know if its possible 2 get it as electives or some loop hole or if I have 2 pay for it can I use TA for it so I can commission

If you have enough free elective credits, and you're school will let you apply that course as free electives, then you should be fine. Otherwise, GI Bill and TA both state it must be as part of a degree program.

Sorry to hijack the post, but I have a similar question. If my college doesn't offer the course I need towards my degree this term, can I use my TA to take the course at another school? I'm going to TESC, and my advisor approved me to take the course at another school.

Yes, you can use TA at another school.

The rotc class can only be taken if your a student at the main school or a satilite , im waiting on amu to process my transcript. And have my school evaluate there classes so it will be adopted into my degree. 2 years of school down 91 credits, 1 year left . I would be done sooner if my school took dantes andthey only take a handful of clep. But I'm hoping to find a lot of good quick ACE credits, I need 22/31 elective credits. I might considare straighterline. However I'm on the gi bill and its nice not spending money.

I don't see why you couldn't use the GI Bill and TA at the same time. I've never done it, but I used my TA while on active duty in Iraq, and later used my GI Bill (Chapter 1607 - No BAH) at AMU.

If you're in a degree program at each school, I'm not sure it would be an issue. You should contact your education services rep.

Yes I could, but since I would have to take 12 credits to get bah,... than rotc is 4 credits, pt in the morning than 3 hrs and lab for class than training meetings. And helping others with squad meetings. ... it wouldn't be produtive for me , because if the credits wouldn't transfer I would have to take more classes.

But I got my math transferd and I'm good to graduate in the spring.
