Do I wait for him to ask or do I just give it back?

All men are equally talented at disappointing our beloved women. We rarely do this intentionally or with malice. Women want emotional security and financial security. We usually excel at one or the other and often times excel at one to the exclusion of the other. Again not intentionally.

The most difficult part in getting married young (I did it at 21) is that you have no idea what you really want and therefore you have no ability to communicate that to the other person. Then you have kids. Then you realize that your mate doesn't share the same values in how you raise your kids. Then you realize, then you realize, then you realize.

Relationships are about compromise. Any fool can go through the good times, but how are you going to react when life's challenges pop up? You can meet these challenges with grace, or you can chew up and spit out your mate.

Now, to answer your question....Do you know what you want out of this relationship? and have you been really honest and communicated that to him? Have you two talked about getting married, the lifestyle you want to live, when you want to have kids, how many you want to have, what city you want to live in, what country you want to live in, if you have boys are they going to play sports etc.....Now to really answer your question. I would write down what you want/wanted out of this relationship and how you envisioned your life together. Wait a day, then go back and ask yourself if you REALLY communicated theses expectations to your beau. If yes, then deliver that list along with the ring back to your beau. If no, then write a letter to your beau expressing your expectations and ask him to do the same.

Guys are not mind readers....and unless you have made it perfectly clear what you want, he's never going to guess right. That's just guys.....and yes they/we are all the same....and better to write it down so he can review it. Maybe by the 23rd time he reads it, he'll get it.

Of course I know what I want from my relationship with him. We've spoken about the way we want to live etc. I guess it doesn't hurt to try again in writing and let him look it over. Thanks.
