capstone/fast degree

Hello, everyone. I really appreciate all of the information on this forum. I want to finish my degree as fast as possible, but I feel like completing the LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone would be a waste of my time. Does it take long? Are the business degrees the only ones that don't require a capstone? I already have Principles of Management CLEP under my belt, so I might as well go that route.... thank you

You can get a BS in Business Administration for either Marketing or General Management from TESU with a capstone you can test out of. Take a look at this plan:

Thank you so much! I dont see a capstone required for the other business degree concentrations. Or, perhsps, in order to fulfill those degrees, i would have to take courses through tesc, instead of just testing out? Its not a waste of time, its just thst i need to finish up for a career change. So im making moves right now

All TESU Business Degrees have Strategic Management as a capstone. However you can test out of it (TECEP, CSU) or take it through Penn Foster. It is listed on all the Business Degree's under "Professional Business Requirements" as a requirement.

At TESU, the Capstone course is 12 weeks just like all the others. That's how long it will take, and there's no practical way to speed it up since you really need the mentor's input at each step. Obviously, this only applies if you choose a degree that requires it. I'm doing it now, and I don't mind saying it's kicking my butt a bit. That's partly because my professional life is twice a busy as normal, and partly because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Luckily, the mentor is happy to give me extra time on assignments, so long as I request it before the due date.

Yeah, I completed almost all of the math courses on ALeks. I have also completed the principles of management clep, free ethics course, and a bunch of fema courses; however, I know TESC doesn't accept those. I have a long way...

The Business Degree capstone is easier, but I don't necessarily think the business courses themselves are easier, and there are WAY more requirements in the business degree. The BALS is extremely flexible, so many different types of courses will fit in there. With BSBA, you are hemmed in by the requirements and the fact that there are only 6cr Free Electives available (vs. the 27cr through the BALS).

So I think "easy" is relative, especially if you're starting with credits somewhere else that might not fit into a BSBA degree plan.

Easier is subjective. The BSBA degrees may not require an actual capstone course, but they aren't as flexible as many of the BA degrees. The BSBA degrees have many specific requirements that have to be fulfilled whereas a liberal studies, humanities, or social science degree will allow for a wide variety of credits. Also, some people may not like the quantitative tests/courses required for the business degrees. Additionally, some BA programs may be inherently more difficult because of the nature of the subject. Most people would agree that computer science and economics are more difficult than business administration regardless of a capstone requirement and despite them being liberal arts degrees. Honestly, business administration, in general, is not really known for being a challenging major while several liberal arts subjects are considered challenging (physics, chemistry, economics, etc.).

The assignments are the drafts of the chapters of your Capstone paper. You get 2 weeks to do them, and like I said, I haven't had a problem with extensions. Although I've never had to ask before, I have seen other students in my other classes turning things in VERY late. One guy in my Discrete Math class was posting questions to the mentor about 5 weeks after the course had ended!

So far I've gotten 100% on the the first two drafts. The mentor is much more involved and instrumental than in any of my previous classes. The "final" is your completed paper. It ends up being 30% of the overall grade, so while the paper is challenging, I don't think passing the course is actually all that difficult.
