What's a PDS certificate when it's at home? (I have NO clue how the English came up with that phrase, but I just love it. I think it means what is a PDS certificate.) Congratulations. Whatever it is, you obviously really showed a lot of focus in achieving it.

brothert69,
Congratulations!! cheersmate LaterBloomer, The Professional Development Series is seven specific EM courses; upon completion you are awarded a very nice certificate. @bricabrac, latebloomer and alleycat - Thank you.
@burbuja0512 - Thank you and yes it was fast but it was a solid 6 hours or so of just doing the exams and only stopping for bathroom breaks. I was like the fema crackhead I didnt stop until they were gone. However I am very nervous about what will happen when I start working the main course list. I dont think I have it in me to do THAT entire list in one sitting.

Great job 9 credits in 6 hours seems Really fast to me. Why do you need to do the rest in one session? Don't burn yourself out.

I actually list the Pro. Dev. Cert. on my resume. It's pertinant to my work and is a chance to relay that I have done something beyond the 2-3 courses most EMS and Fire Deptartments require.
I also had my daughter complete the series and add it to her body of work for her homeschool, I think it will look great when she is reviewed this year. Working in Emergency Services several of the a FEMA's are required. Good job banging out 7 in a day.

Wow! I didn't realize it until I stumbled upon this thread but I also have this PDS cert. I did all of the courses when I was overseas and the paperwork was sent to my home. I ended up not using the FEMA credits so I didn't even bother looking it over. The PDS cert will look great alongside my degrees and professional experience when I begin applying to law enforcement agencies in a few months. Thank you brothert69 for starting this thread!

Thank-you brothert69 and bricabac for the information. I'll need to check it out as I took a few FEMA classes for work. (My department does very distant back-up in case of natural disasters, etc., and I was part of that group.) Maybe with some effort I can get this certificate. My thinking is that no education is ever wasted.
