My daughter has been homeschooled from day 1, is a self-motivated student and would like to limit the amount of time she has to sit in a classroom. She's been looking at her options for post-high school education. Various organizations are out there to help a student gain college credit through CLEP. I entertained the idea of such a service b/c of the mentoring aspect--until I dug deep and realized the mentors were mostly graduates of the organization and too young and inexperienced for my tastes. Plus the issue of the co$t for such a service.
Then we came across your book "Homeschooling for College Credit" sometime over the past 6 months. A bright light bulb came on as I devoured that book. My daughter read every single page. So, I dedicate my daughter's first CLEP exam to you, Jennifer, b/c you are the one who inspired us to journey down this road. :hurray:
I don't have a FB account so I can't post on your FB page, but I read it almost daily. Honestly, you are amazing--all the helpful information and inspiration you provide to your followers is incredible. You discover a new resource and seem so excited to share it with everyone. Your enthusiasm is contagious and I so appreciate you!
God bless!
I am deeply touched by your kind words, and if I've shared my enthusiasm with you and inspired you, then MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! You have my book, so you can look at the dedication page. It's dedicated to my classmates on this forum and Steve (the owner of this forum) who inspired me - just paying it forward.
What curriculum did you use that she was so well prepared? Apologia with Lab?
You have REA, that's a winner. Peterson's of course are also great ($20/once) and the Specific Exam Feedback folder in this forum will have targeted study advice ($20/monthly) but her score is great; I'd go ahead and take the other REAs to be sure it wasn't a fluke, and if you have a copy of CLEP Official Guide (avail. in your library) there is another freebie in there!
Glad you joined the forum, and please keep us updated on her journey.

We used Science Shepherd and I've been very happy with it. Lots of review and good labs. We're planning to use Apologia Chemistry next year (I'd use SS again but they don't have Chem yet). DD wants to take the Chem CLEP next year. We'll weave in other resources to prepare (7 layers!) and see how it goes. I hear the Chem CLEP is pretty hard. DD is good in math so maybe she can do it. Never underestimate determination.
I have the feeling that, if she passes the biology CLEP with those 6 lovely credits it'll become an addiction of sorts for her. ;-)
