Your wisdom is needed! :)

Hello all knowing Degree Forum Smile,

I need your insight and guidance, if possible.

I honestly want to get my Bachelors finished and out of the way as soon as possible so i can pursue my Masters in HCI.

I took most of yesterday to find all my transcript from over the years and compile it into one doc, so I can share it with you all. It wasn't easy but I managed to figure out old passwords and logins. Where there is a will there is a way!

Here you go!
Courses and Total Credits Earned

I would truly appreciate it if you all can look over the classes and credits I've earned; (I believe I have about 122 credits in total) and let me know which of the BIG 3 would be the quickest, easiest and cheapest route to take. If I can get it done before the year is out I would be so happy and relieved!:hurray: Is that realistic?
I say cheapest because the amount of debt I have accrued in loans is absolutely horrific! I have 15 more credits to get my degree at my most recent B&M but I would have to take out over $10,000 in loans to do this. I prefer to not do so but do be brutally honest and let me know what you think.

A little background:
I work in IT in UX and plan to pursue my Masters in any Human Computer Interaction aka UX degree program willing to accept me especially with a scholarship (fingers crossed). I also have interest in Psychology as well.

I really don't care which major I go into. My focus is just to get my Bachelors so I can start pursuing my Master's degree.

Questions:
Also do 'D' grades transfer into the "Big 3" schools?

Since I have 122 credits can I just transfer in all my credits and get my bachelors?

What is the quickest you think I could finish?

What route would you take?

Which college do you suggest I attend?

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure to be quite honest. I did a little digging after reading your comment and didn't find any info on how I can tell which is Upper Level or Lower level.

Thanks for your reply though Smile

They are usually marked 300 & 400 or 3000 and 4000. So, if any of your courses are marked with a 3 or 4 digit number beginning with a 3 or 4, those should be junior & senior or upper level classes.

Does the master's degree program(s) have any specific requirements?

No, EC does not accept D grades for transfer credit.

Each school handles UL credits differently and requires a different amount. EC seems likely to follow the way your original college counted them. TESC seems to use their own database to decide UL even for community college (2-year school) courses and proficiency exams.

TESC may have a degree in Humanities or Art that fits your interests.

To give you some info to use to compare, a BS in Liberal Studies requires 30 UL credits at EC. If you do not have any already, here are the UL choices using mostly DSSTs -

The most inexpensive way I know of to get 30 UL credits for a BS is going to be (by enrolling after July 1, 2010):

6 out of 7 DSST exams in Arts & Sciences – 18 UL –
Civil War
Soviet Union
Money & Banking
Business Ethics & Society
Criminal Justice
Ethics in America
World Religion

1 ALEKS Stats – 3 UL - if wanted instead of 1 DSST from above

1 Capstone course at EC – 3 UL - required, double-check that it will be Arts & Science and not Applied Professional

3 out of 5 DSST exams in Applied Professional – 9 UL – at most or more from above
Management Information Systems
Principles of Finance
Substance Abuse
Business Law II
Here’s to Your Health

Be careful of duplication with your current credits. Also, a BALS does not allow UL in Applied Professional; all 30 UL credits would need to be in Arts & Sciences.

Be sure to download the Student Guide to Credit by Exam to see all of your options: https://www.excelsior.edu/469

There are now some lower-priced ECE's too. You'll need to check on which ones are still UL. Shortened Exams - excelsior.edu

Also, you will need 2 depths at EC, which are 9 LL and 3 UL in the same subject. You seem to have a good start in several subjects, like history and psychology.

I know you are close to finishing your degree at your current school. I hope this helps you see where you are in regard to the Big 3 and whether or not it is a good idea to transfer at this point.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong. :/

I looked it over again and the way the B&Ms I attended numbered their courses it didn't seem to reflect the 300/400 or 3000/4000 so one can differentiate between which is upper level or lower level.

You can always have TESC or one of the other Big 3 evaluate your previous credits for a fee of about $75 and then you'll know exactly where you stand. I know that TESC will actually count as UL some LL courses, depending upon your major and the course descriptions.

Is KBCC a two-year community college? If so, those will be LL at EC.

What about CCC? From reading this forum, some of those could be UL (like Abnormal Psychology), but it looks like only American Authors is listed as 3000.

Most of your credits seem to be within Liberal Arts categories. I would think all of them would be accepted at all of the Big 3 schools, which means you need to know where you stand on UL credits.
