Your success using InstantCert

This website highly recommends using InstantCert for preparing for CLEP exams. They themseselves claim that only by using their product, you can go from no prior knowledge of a given subject to exam ready. Have any of you used only their service to achieve that level of preparedness? If its actually comprehensive enough, their subscription fee sounds like a bargain.

For some of the exams, Instantcert does not cover enough of the material. The only reason why I passed Intro to Astronomy is because I'm good at guessing. LOL. For most of the exams I've taken, Instantcert was my main study source. I've found the flashcards to be sufficient for the social science exams, Environment and Humanity: Race to Save the Planet, Intro to Computing, and Biology. You can see my scores in my signature. A 50 is passing on the CLEPs and usually a 400 or 40-something is passing on the DSSTs.

Ditto. Never used any other resource for DSSTs beside the internet and the occasional library book. IC is kinda hit and miss for CLEP.

March of last year I started on my path to a degree....0 hours....As of today I have 111 hours....some of them FEMA....but all through self study and using IC. You should broaden your study on the subjects but IC gives enough to pass the test on most.

Depends on the person really... go through this thread, my bet is you'll find most of the exams listed there. http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...-list.html

Now, the Specific Exam feedback, wow!! That was worth my $20 a month, and the cards were like an extra bonus, IMO.

Those are my thoughts as well Wink I never base my sole studying off flashcards anyways, but I like them to drill with. IC was great for that (though for all my CLEPs I used SpeedyPrep, so I don't know how IC is for CLEPs). And I much prefer IC's V2 cards to the other kind Wink But I would say that the SEF is worth the $20/month :coolgleam:

I think most of the forum has used the subscription at one point in time, but just know that you are studying material, not being given the actual test questions (for some reason, there have been people who seemed to think that they were getting the actual exam questions???). Using the member's feedback section is THE GOLDEN GEM of being a member here, because that's how you can swap study tips and study resources.

I forgot to add, that the material is in a flash card format. For me, I'm terrible at memorizing, so even though I call this place home, I relied a lot on videos and books that explained info as opposed to bullet type info. That said, in all my time here, I can tell you it all boils down to your own learning style. No matter what style works best for you, you should be able to get suggestions from other members. (if you're looking for a video, etc.)

Best resource out there - the specific exam feedback helps you prioritize your studying and be more effective.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

Also, wanted to expand on that a bit... They are all in flash card format and a ton of people use the flash cards a differently. Some will just go through and read them. Some will do that the first couple times. Some people will memorize them... etc. The way people learn and use the flash cards varies as well and will reflect on your learning style.
