Just confused why there is a DEI ban in place, aren't these programs helpful to the less affluent or the minority?

Yes. Conservatives are just being reactionary to score a few political points.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct.
To me, "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" is just new terminology for what we used to call Equal Opportunity. Perhaps there are many reasons but, just saying "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" has become just another "dog whistle" perceived indignity of the culture wars.

It's a tactic to rile up the base. A conservative was elected to an education board in Texas. She campaigned against DEI, critical race theory, sex and gender identity being taught in schools, etc. After getting into office, she was shocked to see no evidence for the accusations of extremism and inappropriateness in the hundreds of pages of curricula. When she confronted her party about it, they tried to shut her up because it's an effective election tactic.

The courts are finding that many DEi programs violate the Civil Rights Act and are stacking the deck to get around actually giving equal opportunities.

LOL
DEI is for people who couldn't make it their own merits
they've never been held accountable
they've always been told that any problems they face are because of racism and not because of their own incompetence or lack of skill or lack of experience
they think rules don't apply to them
then when they're called out for their incompetence they claim innocence and racism
case in point

"The point I’ve made through all of those experiences is that anti-Asian racism has the same source as anti-Black racism: white supremacy. So when a Black person attacks an Asian person, the encounter is fueled perhaps by racism, but very specifically by white supremacy. White supremacy does not require a white person to perpetuate it."

https://ogletree.com/insights-resources/...roach-dei/ Perhaps just a nit:
The link you posted is for the law firm Ogletree Deakins.
Perhaps I'm just missing what you are trying to convey. Please cite some cases. where "The courts are finding that many DEi programs violate the Civil Rights Act and are stacking the deck to get around actually giving equal opportunities."

Wishing you the best. Yet, this classical liberal fails to see how the links you shared buttress your argument. It's my opinion that Equal Opportunity now referred to as Diversity Equity and Inclusion is good and necessary

Why is it people always post cringy twitter threads and unhinged youtubers/talkshow hosts as evidence of some larger trend?
Racism is still alive and well in America, and until we reconcile with it we will need to have programs designed to support those marginalized. I would love for society to not need these initiatives, but we are not even close to that point.
