My view of the Cold War was based upon the political (Communism), rather than the economic (Socialism), views of governments.
That was probably fairly naïve, as I think that all (most?) war has an economic basis - greed.

They are the next step from anarchy. They are further to the right on economic issues than Republicans. The left-right spectrum is not really a good one to use. I like the Nolan Chart. It is much more accurate because it is based on less control and more control on economics and social issues.
